Classical Box Sets that are not identified by Roon

Thank you, is there an official statement somewhere? What If the user has already changed some things, will it be overwritten?

Next box set that is not be identified is Baroque Masterpieces (30 CDs from Sony Music).

Please google the forum. There are answers there. (Yes, there is an official statement. No, user edits will not be overwritten.)

Let’s keep this thread for listing unidentified classical boxsets! :sunglasses:

Mozart - The Piano Concertos - Alfred Brendel, Neville Marriner & ASMF

10 CDs on Phillips - Roon finds the 12 CD version shown at AllMusic

Bach - The Sacred Cantatas - Masaaki Suzuki (55 Hybrid SACDs) (2016) (BIS)

The entire Mozart 225 box set – 200 discs, the #1 selling CD of the year – is not recognized.

Mozart 225 unrecognized.

It’s a huge box set (200 discs) and doesn’t seem to be recognized… any plan to fix that?

The 107 CD Box Set Wilhelm Furtwängler: Das Vermächtnis / The Legacy. No details on AllMusic.com, although it has a page there: http://www.allmusic.com/album/wilhelm-furtwangler-legacy-mw0002122040

A historical box set in more than one way: German Chancellor Merkel even gave Pope Francis a copy

FYI: I just created a new thread for NON-classical, non-identified box sets:

I downloaded Brahms: The Complete Chamber Music from the Hyperion Records website.

Roon correctly identifies the box set, but there are tracks missing (on the right side of the “Identify Album” screen).

Since Roon identified it as a physical CD box set, I went ahead and created folders below the album directory (CD01, CD02, etc.) and moved the files into the folders as per the CD listing. Then, using MP3Tag, I updated the Disc number metadata to reflect the corresponding CD.

This made things worse… more files not found. Ugh. Most of the issues appear to be on CD 7 and 8

Not sure if this is a metadata issue, or a file system issue (Windows server)

Here is the listing of the box set at Allmusic:

Possibly related: I also have a separate folder of two of the CDs from the box set.CD 7 and 8. These are correctly identified by Roon with no issues (Brahms: Complete Piano Trios - Florestan Trio et al)

Here is the link of that entry at Allmusic:

32 Beethoven Piano Sonatas - Robert Sliverman

Yikes!
Checked my 10 CD rips:

What a mess: The sonatas scattered on 80 Roon Disks…

This is now identified, with performance dates and venues. So they finally deal with it.

But unfortunately each opus is made into a “work” (i.e. several quartets strung together with no delineation) so you can’t select each quartet separately. I’ll make a separate ticket for that problem…

A big fat zero on any of my other box sets, sadly.

I am still battling with my initial load of my library, the problem as I see it is that Roon is dependent on 3rd party metadata and that metadata is wanting

I have spent hours trying to match up albums. As soon as one or two tracks mismatch you don’t get identified and you don’t get reliable Composition generation. This makes it almost impossible to use Roon on classical music. Rock Jazz ok, I am close to isolating my claasical folder from the watched folders and just work with Rock

What a shame

I spent a lot of time and effort getting a Composition tag sorted on my classical works, this is ignored and substituted. By the dodgy metadata at best

RANT over, I am very close to giving up and going back to JRiver where I have control over what’s displayed

Life is too short to fight the metadata sources we seem to be presented with
