Compatibility of Asustor and QNAP NAS with Roon (ref#4IGO4W)

Hi! What’s not quite right with Roon?

· None of the above quite fits

Can Roon be installed on QNAP hardware? Asustor provides instructions. Synology only lists their HDD drives as options.

Also I will be setting up a Lumin U1 Mini and they said make sure whatever I setup can run Minimserver. On the QNAP app store they do show Minimserver but doesn’t show RRoon.

Mostlikely if it meets the hardware requirements, it is recent (still under support from the manufacturer), its OS is up-to-date and it can run software in Docker. If the old package installation still works is hard to say though without more details about the NAS in question. But as of my understanding, Docker is currently the way forward into the future for all NAS installations.

QNAP Container Station exclusively integrates LXD and Docker®, Kata lightweight virtualization technologies, allowing you to operate multiple isolated Linux® systems on a QNAP NAS as well as download apps from the built-in Docker® Hub/LXD Image Server Registry.

ASUSTOR has a Roon Server app in its app store but I saw somewhere ththat starting in April Roon installs would only be support.

Please be advised that, as of the end of April 2026, Docker is the officially supported deployment method for installing Roon Server on NAS devices. For further details, documentation, and community support, please visit the Roon Community.

So you still need any advice or are you good?

Hi @Randall_Sanders,

You’re correct that Roon on NAS is now officially Docker-based across distributions and manufacturers.
