Updated today as well
I’ve upgraded from 1.4.65 to 2.0.4 but am, now, unable to access the apps via the ascend web app. The speakers are on the network (able to ping their IP address) and accessible via RMS but not ascend. Any suggestions?
Might be an IP conflict, try setting the assigned time to 1-2 mins then rebooting the router/switch/network.
then click here http://app.ascend.audio/
I had a problem connecting from the Safari web browser. Issue was a privacy plugin called 1-Blocker which stops tracking etc. As soon as I turned that off Ascend connected to the upgraded 8c’s.
Updated to 2.0.4 from 1.4.65 and couldn’t connect to one of the speakers. Went back to 1.4.65 and then forward to 2.0.4 losing my REW settings in the process. After a speaker power cycle, things seem fine. Not sure why, but the sound seems better than AES3 from a Bricasti M5 streamer.
Thanks folks - I restarted the entire network and speakers etc. and it’s now all working
Upgraded to 2.0 with no issues this time. Was looking through the migrated settings in the ascend app and noticed there were migrated settings for Listening triangle - where did these settings come from? I don’t recall ever seeing settings for listening triangle in lanspeaker.
Does anybody know why I would be getting interference/noise when going direct into the 8cs from my tv via a Roland professional mini Jack (headphone) to xlr lead? When I went from the tv into a streamer and then to the 8cs I had no problems. Changing the 8cs to low gain helps but then the volume is too low.
What does it sound like? If it’s more like a hum it could possibly be a ground loop as the headphone jack on your tv will not be balanced. You could try plugging the 8Cs and your speakers into the same plug (with a power bar if necessary) and see if that resolves it.
Its a new addition, worth setting up. You can move the centre image, its a bit like a balance control
I’ve tried the exact same and am still deciding which option to chose.
The optimal here is to have the volume in ascent set to -10db and the input to low gain.
The TV volume is then usable from 20+
There is a slight hiss/hum when i put my ear to the tweeter but from more than 30cm away its totally silent.
The other, and clearer, version of this is to use a HDMI ARC box. I have the CYP-11. this takes the digital out from the HDMI, converts it to PCM and then sends out an analog signal which in turn works via CEC so the TV volume control still works. You’d need to check the spec of your TV to ascertain if this will work for you; it’ll need to the HDMI-ARC & CEC compliant.
It sounds like an oscillating hiss (
Everything is already plugged into the same supply
Interesting. Anything above -16db is unworkable for me - the noise when the sound is muted is too loud even from the listening position.
Do you have a link to the cyp-11 pls? I cant find it on the cyp web site.
This is the unit: AU-1HARC - HDMI to Stereo Audio (2 Phono) ARC extractor - CYP Europe
Be aware the CEC volume control via the TV remote isn’t working with the current Sony Bravia KD-55/65 TV firmwares. I have the Sony Bravia KD-55AG8 and have to use the volume in ascent till Sony get it sorted.
I have a question to all 8c owners: can you hear any noise/hiss/humming from the speaker when not playing music? Either when seated on your chair or when holding your ear close to the speaker?
I have active speakers and I can hear a low humming noise.
I wonder if this is common with actives? Thanks.
None with my 8C’s
Nothing from mine!
Hi cereal_killer, was your reply on the forum 8C firmware thread, to my question about Listening Triangle?
Evo
Sorry, yes was to your question re listening triangle
I heard this “Triangle Balance” mentioned before. So is it just panning? Are there any other new settings in this 2.0? It sounds like there might a second set of EQ points separate from the “Room EQ” settings meant for more personal taste, correct? Thanks in advance if you have time to answer.
