Internet Radio FLAC Stations Swap Meet

I think sometimes with these stations it’s not just congestion at the receiving end that can affect things (ADSL in particular), but congestion at the uploading end.

I think most radio stations smash the signals through some sort of Optimod or Omnia type boxes on the way out the door.

between Rondo and JB i have just about all the radio i need; if only there were a jazz stream of similar (sound and content) quality.

+1000000 on the Jazz stream. I am sort of stunned that there isn’t one yet

Subscribe to jazzradio.com. It has like 40 channels of various jazz subgenres and they throw in four other programs: classicalradio.com, radiotunes.com, rockradio.com, di.com.

That’s well more than 100 channels, all at 320kbps, for $70/yr (in the US). Once and done! I’m not looking for other channels anymore. You can enter your favorites in the Roon I’net Radio interface, but I prefer their dedicated apps and stream over bluetooth. I don’t lose anything at 320. I don’t use DSP, so those that do would want to enter their favorite channels into Roon.

I have a subscription to jazz radio and do enjoy it but it isn’t even close to JB Radio’s lossless stream in my system. I emailed them and asked if they have any plans to add flac playback now that Roon supports it but I never heard anything. That would be great if they did

JB radio sounds pretty bad. i hope when RP comes available the stream will be better sounding. no need to AB with local files, the bloomy bass is all too obvious.

Wow I love the SQ of jb radio. Are you getting the high res?

You can also correct any offending frequencies with the para eq in Roon.

Some new FLAC Internet radio…

Thanks Guy, I’ll edit these in tonight.

JB Radio continues to rock my world. So seldom does a song make me want to change the station, and so often do I hear a known tune for the first time in a while or an unknown tune from an artist I like, it’s uncanny.

I visited with an audio buddy last night and told him that this station would change his life. Our third song: a Chris Isaac tune he had never heard – and my buddy owns five Chris Isaac albums.

I’ve sent fan mail to the owner about twice a week now for a couple of months, and finally got a response from the fellow today. I proposed a carnival game in which I guessed his age to be 44. He wrote back to say he’s in fact 42. Based on the email signature, I think he may be from Greece.

At any rate, JB Radio still the best thing that’s on the Internet.

Thanks for the update on JB. I sure hope it will be lasting. Did you get a chance to see if he is using any eq in the broadcast -not that it matters much. Just curious.

Be great to have a link for Magic 105.4?

Last entry in the list.

I love these stations especially JB Radio and Absolute Radio but for some reason, Absolute Radio will play about an hour and then it just stops. I don’t have any issue with the others. Does this occur with anyone else? I listen only to the Absolute Radio 70’s if that info is needed. Thanks

Sorry, hope this is not the wrong place to post but an update on Radio Paradise Flac. This is now available over four separate streams. Their standard original stream and additionally now streams named Rock, Groovy and Mellow. I spent a long time on Mellow today and really loved it.

Hi Greg,

Were you able to play the Radio Paradise FLAC streams through Roon ?

I normally don’t make it that long with absolute radio.

Thanks so much. I just posted to that thread
