Issue with playing hi-res Tidal music in Roon after subscription upgrade (ref#QG5V18) [Resolved with Build 1401]

I’ve been experiencing the same issue with Tidal not playing hi-rez from within Roon and Tidal playing hi-rez (aka “Master”) when using the Tidal app on various mobile devices.

Since the Roon support staff has responded on this thread that a fix is being worked on and will be available shortly, I’m quite satisfied and will wait for the update.

I’m also very pleased with Roon’s support team being more responsive to issued raised within the Support section. For example the very lively and informative discussion regarding metadata on this thread: Metadata Bravo!!

Logging out of Tidal and back in within Rood did not resolve this issue.

I'm having trouble playing music

What best describes your playback issue?

I am connected to my paid Tidal account and I have the option to play 192khz on tidal. However when I set up Roon I only have the option for high quality, and not master?

Problem is identified

@connor Does this mean people in Early Access need to wait a bit longer for the fix?

@Bryan_Ruby No-one said it would fix the issue.

I was only following support’s request to give it a try and report the results. It’s called troubleshooting.

I have the same problem, the maximum configuration that I get through Roon is “High” so the maximum rate I get in any circumstance is 16/44,1. However, if I use the native Tidal application I can obtain the “Max” configuration without problems.

I did it several times but the problem is not solved. With the native application of Tidal I have no trouble obtaining the maximum possible quality.

Just a few posts up:

Thank you. It’s clear now, I’ll waiting for a solution.

Tidal have now the option of playing hi-res. However, it doesn’t seem to work when playing Tidal within Roon?

A quick search before posting may get you the answer faster in future

What’s happening?

I'm having trouble with my DAC, speakers, streamer, etc.

What best describes the issue with your audio device?

Roon user for several years. NUC based ROCK. Have three (RoPieee) RPi's feeding DAC's capable of 192+kHz one of which supports MQA. Roon is operating normally even ARC, but as of yesterday, after rebooting one of several switches in my network, all higher res files play at (Source) 44.1kHz 16-bit resolution only instead of their native higher resolution or MQA format. This applies to both Tidal streams and my purchased HDTracks music. Is my loss of high resolution capability a NUC, network or other issue? Thank you for your help!

If this affects only Tidal, it’s probably a known issue caused by Tidal unifying their subscription tiers as of yesterday. Roon (any apparently also other clients) need to make some adjustments.

Doesn’t look like you’re connected to one of your Ropieee’s zones, but rather to the remote PC’s system output in your screenshot, no?

If so, switch to the respective zone and repost with a screenshot of that depicting your problem and also show screenshots of the respective zone’s device setup.

Something else

How can we help?

None of the above

Other options

There is no max displayed on Tidal in Roon. Only up to High

Search before posting please.

Here are pics of my Mytek DAC zone using a RPi based Allo USBridge. Hard to see but album cover area shows 192kHz 24bit whereas the Signal Path popup reads 44.1kHz 16bit. I thought this was a purchased album from HDTracks, but the Source clearly says Tidal. Maybe this is the Tidal issue Roon is working on like Suedkiez mentioned above. Thanks a bunch for your thoughts!
