I had a Samsung smart TV with external Chromecast connected to display Roon. Now I have an LG G5 with built-in Chromecast, but it does not show up in the Roon app. Any ideas?
Try a web browser on the TV or connect a supported external device (Chromecast, Shield, …).
Some ideas got summarized in:
A statement from Roon Support regarding LG WebOS TVs (here a G6) and their Google Cast claim:
Thanks @BlackJack, it seems Chromecast in my LG is not a real Chromecast. I will put my old one back to make it work
Even if you can get it working, like I have with my LG C3, it’s a sub par experience and kicks into screensaver mode and there is nothing you can do about it as Roon doesn’t seem to support anyway around this like most other apps that Chromecast
Oh, ok. Makes me think of a joke . A man enters the hospital where his wife gave birth to their baby. A doctor welcomes him and said he had some bad news. Your baby has been born without arms. Well said the man, we can at least play football than. On the way to his wife the doctor said, uhm, I’m sorry but it was also born without legs. Bummer, no football, but at least I can cuddle with it. Not exactly answered the doctor, because it was actually born without a rump… As they enter the room where the wife and baby were resting, the doctor also mentioned the baby was born without a head, just before he looked into the crib. As the man looked in the small crib, he saw an ear lying on a cushion. He said, hello little sweetheart of mine, coochie coochie, as he leaned over. The doctor said, oh please don’t bother. It was born deaf.
Does anyone know if the Google TV Streamer will work as a Roon display on LG OLED’s?
