Marantz Cinema Line [HEOS] - When is it Roon Ready?

It will be interesting to see how they approach integrating with the HEOS system. Will it use RAAT and be independent of HEOS groups or will it behave more like SONOS in ROON and integrate with the native grouping? I’m also interested to see how they deal with multiple zones on a receiver - are there other examples of how this is done by in ROON?

It will use RAAT or it would not be Roon Ready, so will be independant of HEOS but it may see HEOS groups as I think it sees Bluesound groups, but may be mistaken.

That’s going to be frustrating for those of us with large HEOS multi zone systems with older players incorporated.

Maybe I won’t give up on RHEOS!

No news ?
Someone from Roon or Marantz should comment
If they put it out as Ready but not certified it’s not longer a secret
Speak out !

Are you able to t translate the gist of the video?

After reading through this thread I just checked on my Marantz SACD 30n. As with others, it does show up in Roon as “Roon Ready” but not certified. Also watched the AudioHolics interview with the Sound United/ Massimo executive. Clearly Marantz/Denon “Roon Ready” certification is coming. Marantz/Denon are extremely large companies, it’s in both Roon’s and their best interest to make Roon Ready a reality.

And it would appear the RAAT firmware is already on my SACD 30n, just awaiting the final blessing.

We will keep watching. Bringing together the proprietary HEOS system with RAAT is no small challenge …

Aren’t they two different, and separate systems?

Roon is its own sovereign nation.

But grouping players requires them to communicate … or at least agree on who’s in charge.

But it will be reliant on the HEOS card in them. It’s just a software stack layer of HEOS as is Airplay and UPnP ,Tidal and the other streaming solutions HEOS offers. They have a large range of products all of which got the same update at the same time.

I imagine It will be similar to all other products that have their own mulitroom stuff. Roon just does its own syncing via RAAT to RR zones. HEOS may take care of the rest if you have non RR zones in a HEOS group. But depends on how they decide to implement it I suppose. . I know Naims mulitroom works independently to Roon and not all are there stuff like s Roon Ready but if you have them set up for group play and play to one via Roon then Naims multiroom takes care of the other zones. I think Blusound works similar if grouped in Bluos, but I can’t say that with 100% conviction but I believe iy will only see the primary device but plays to the other Bluos grouped devices.

It just seems that whatever is required for Marantz/ Denon Roon Readiness is certainly achievable. The list of Roon Ready companies is long, nearly all of them smaller than Sound United.

I’m excited that it’s finally happening!

It is exciting to see the big names come on board, I imagine the team at Roon are busy with testing the range, likely the largest in one go, if thats how they wamt it rolled out.

I had given up on it long ago, concluding that Marantz was satisfied with Roon Tested.

How can we help?

None of the above

Since the last update, several of my devices, including the Marantz Cinema 40 are listed as uncertified.

@John_MacDougall, I moved your post to this thread discussing what you are experiencing. Roon and Marantz have not announced anything officially.

U33 firmware was released today: https://support-uk.denon.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/3832
but there is nothing mentioned about Roon Ready and my Denon AVR-X4500H receiver is back to Roon Tested devices listing

Is the uncertified Roon Ready section still present or has that gone?

It’s gone for me with the firmware update.

Hmm that doesnt bode well then. Maybe its too much hassle to get it working and they have decided against it, or its delayed significantly so they pulled it due to the confusion its given all Roon/Marantz/Denon customers until it is ready? If they are carrying on unlikely to see anything for another 4 months as the only do quartley updates.
