Hey folks, I’m sure I’m just missing this option somewhere but I’d like to consolidate the multiple appearances of the same album in my library view.
Currently logged into both Qobuz and Tidal, and when I view my album library if I’ve added the same album to both Qobuz and Tidal prior to signing up for Roon it appears twice in the library view. If I’m viewing an Artist or Genre page, the “Albums in your Library” section will show me the same album twice, once for Qobuz and again for Tidal. I’ve looked through all the Option pages and don’t see a setting that indicates I can merge them, am I just missing this or is it not something I can get?
Might be this issue, but this quote makes me think it may actually show the two versions separately in the expected way:
@Drfiresign please check Roon Settings > General > Show Hidden Tracks And Albums. Is this set to Yes or No? „No“ should group the different versions in one Versions tab of the album.
Hey thanks! That did help out quite a bit actually. It pointed me to this comment about how “Show Hidden Albums and Tracks” works.
That did end up removing most of the duplicates, but I do notice that when Qobuz and Tidal have slightly different Album names, they appear as separate albums despite both being linked as another Version on the other when you click into the specific page for that album.
I guess this is a separate question now, but is there a way to automatically add the other service’s album version to my library? Say I have an album that’s been added to my Tidal library and Qobuz has the same one in the same format, can I have Roon automatically add the Qobuz album to my library? Reason being, I’d prefer to play the Qobuz version as I plan on cancelling Tidal soon. I’ve already set my “Streaming service preference” to Qobuz, but it looks like that version won’t appear unless I’ve already added the Qobuz specific version of that particular album.
Possibly, I am not completely sure if I have seen this. But sometimes they definitely appear separately for whatever reason. In this case, you should be able to group (not “merge”) them:
Select both albums
At the top of the Roon album view, click the (…) button > Edit > Group Alternate Versions:
I’m a bit surprised if you have this often - I have Tidal and Qobuz as well and in the vast majority of cases they get auto-grouped.
A nice thing about the manual group is that it does not really care and does what you tell it to do. Sometimes it’s nice to be able to group albums that for arguable good reasons are separate by default. E.g., I often group remix albums with the main one.
