Hi @Geoff_Coupe, I have a question regarding the “Feature Suggestions” thread below: Localization support for Qobuz album data The attached examples show albums by Japanese artists on Qobuz; while track names are displayed in Japanese on Qobuz for both, in Roon, some display track names in Japanese while others show them in English. Since it is stated below that “Roon does not have localized album title data enabled for Qobuz content at this time,” is it correct to assume that for the albums displaying Japanese track names, Qobuz has included the Japanese track names within the English metadata as well? Qobuz album and song titles not displaying in Japanese [Roadmap] - #12 by connor In this scenario, Roon users living in Japan who subscribe to the Japanese Qobuz service but cannot read Japanese would face significant inconvenience, so I am considering contacting Qobuz about this. By the way, if the “Feature Suggestions” mentioned above were to be implemented, would Roon retrieve Qobuz’s English metadata when set to English, and Qobuz’s Japanese metadata when set to Japanese?

To answer your question directly: it is correct. Roon has no language selection for Qobuz album and track titles. There is no layer that looks at your language setting and picks a Japanese title over an English one, which is why the result is inconsistent from one album to the next rather than consistently English. What you are seeing is not a setting on your side and there is nothing you can change to make it uniform.
Why any individual album shows Japanese while another shows English comes down to the title data behind that release
The place for this to gain weight is the existing feature request, where votes and comments are what drive prioritization:
We cannot give you a timeline for now, as the feature requests are implemented based on user involvement.

It would be great if many Japanese Roon users voted, but for Japanese users, the very act of posting here in English is a significant hurdle. Perhaps some awareness-raising is needed.
By the way, regarding the issue of mixed Katakana and English in artist names on Qobuz (see the attached image), I contacted Qobuz Japan and received the following response. It seems that even if Roon were to reference only the Japanese metadata, this mixed-format issue could not be resolved:
“When using a Japanese account, artist names, titles, and the like may appear with a mix of Katakana and English spellings. This is due to specifications set by the respective labels or rights holders, so it is not possible to standardize them to just one format. We have received similar inquiries regarding this matter from a usability standpoint, so we will pass your feedback along to our internal team. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience.”

That is a very helpful clarification regarding how labels and rights holders submit mixed Katakana and English naming formats to the streaming platforms. It certainly highlights why localization can be complex even when pulling native metadata.
