It is pain that multichannel is not yet supported. I wish it were higher up the priority list. Your experience is the same as mine, the files just don’t appear. I had to go back and re rip all my mc sacds to extract the stereo mixes which I’d previously ignored. Got into a bit of a pickle with first one with file names and folders etc. Not ideal but only a temporary measure I hope.
I’ll add my voice, too: yes, please add multichannel support!
Multichannel audio is, as far as I’m concerned, a niche that’s probably not worth the time and money to implement and support. There’s also very little content available in the format, and it won’t ever get traction in the mainstream.
But: for something as specialized and expensive as Roon, it’s a perfect match. I would love to have an easy way of playing multichannel audio tracks on my setup—I’ve tried, but iTunes doesn’t play them, even though it plays multichannel movies just fine, and other software seem to universally suck.
As of today, my multichannel situation consists of playing Bluray concerts. It would be great if there was a way to play all old SACD and DVD-A rips, too, and Roon is, as far as I’m concerned, perfect for it.
It isn’t totally clear how we would pump mch content into Meridian gear. Their network protocols don’t support it, and that’s really the only Meridian specific support that we have.
Yeah that’s my point, anyone with a recent enough AV reciever has a multichannel DAC at their disposal, most do 24/192 PCM and a lot of the very new ones support DSD too.
We generally do not attempt to predict future release dates in public, so that is likely to remain the status until the feature is very near to completed.
(Also to be clear, NADAC was a demo, not finished product or anything close to it–current NADAC users do not have the ability to do multichannel playback using Roon)
