Description of Issue

Hi,
New user. Reading and launching but not having success connecting / launching Roon on Zen mini mk3 (yet!) Have a trial subscription to Roon - tried to upgrade that (to annual or lifetime) but could not…

Anyways, I launch Roon on Windows PC, I get the Choose Your Roon Core - I see my Zenmini listed, I click on Connect - and get Unexpected Error – alternately, if I choose Set Up Roon Core On This PC /USE This PC - it jumps to the Login page, I fill in my login info - and get Unexpected Error…

I did search the community page(s) for unexpected error - but it seems that error is a catch all for dozens of situations. I did not find one related to my scenario.

Can someone point me to steps to launch & run roon on my new Innuos Zen mini mk3?

Thanks! Erik

Hello from a fellow user, and not an Innuos owner myself, but did you see this info from Innuos, as in screenshot below?
Maybe that gets you up and running …

Good morning - yesI saw that. Innuos seems to have two Roon set ups - one for Core and one for Experimental/Squeezebox. I tried both :-), and I reverted to Core to keep away from trial sw  The Roon app hangs when searching for my Innuos Zenmini mk3 (although it ‘sees’ I have a zenmini mk3 and anytime I get a log in screen on Roon I get “unexpected Error” I can log in to my account (still as trial member) however It will not let me convert trial account to monthly or lifetime… nor can I seem to access the innuos zen mini mk3 from Roon. On Innuos app I have chosen Roon (instead of Innuos Sense app) - standalone, core, not experimental… I’m sure I’m missing a simple config step but can’t seem to find it… wondering if my account at Roon needs to be ‘turned on’ even though it says I am in trial period? hmmm

Steps I’m taking:
Open Roon on iPad
Roon opens
Roon screen says “Choose your Roon Core” and it displays my new Innuos Zenmini mk3 ver 2.0 with an IP address and a ‘Connect’ icon in blue on right.
I click on Connect
The Roon Login or Sign up Screen pops up
I enter email and pwd. - click login
“Unexpected Error:Unexpectederror”

And if I choose “Configure Roon OS Devices on your network” screen pops up with “Searching for Roon OS Core” and hangs…

That’s, because you’re not running Roon OS on your Innuos - that’ll only work with Roon ROCK or Nucleus core devices.

I don’t think so, but other than that, I’m of no further help…

You’ll have to wait for other users’ input or the support team, once your post reaches the top of their overly long queue…

Thank you for jumping in and offering some ideas - much appreciated.

Just fyi - for anyone following along  here’s the email response I got from Innuos - and I followed these steps last night and still have same error as described above.

Thank you for getting in touch with us. For you to be able to use your ZENmini as a Roon Core, you need to change the System Mode in the innuOS settings.

innuOS dashboard > SYSTEM > SETTINGS > SYSTEM MODE > STANDALONE > ROON > ROON CORE

After that you should be able to find your ZENmini as a Roon Core on your Roon app and connect to it.

Please do let us know if you require any further assistance.

Best Regards!

ok, update from roon billing and account information. They say to look and wait here for help … unexpected error:unexpectederror  help with onboarding please.

oh and I was able to log in with the dealer’s username and pwd credentials… the roon app still sees my innuos zen mini… I can get to the billing page of roon I’ve ■■■■ down the innuos, unplugged, waited 10 minutes, plugged back in, restarted innuos zen mini mk3, made sure it’s in standalone roon core mode… removed and deleted the roon app off ALL mobile and pc devices and reinstalled… unexpected error:unexpectederror ayeeeee roon authentication issue?

and further reading I see Innuos is not supported by roon. Great. Innuos sells a box with roon core and an experimental app for roon integration called squeezelite, pre installed on the Innuos Zen Mini mk3… and roon says nope, we told you (Innuos) years ago blah blah. Dealer showed me roon running on the Innuos zen mini mk3… I bought (no idea not formally supported). I get home and now can’t get to run. Innuos says talk to roon. roon says Innuos not supported. Consumer suffers. love me some good tech battles 50 bucks says this has nothing to do with cpu speed or ram or ssd in the Innuos box…just a wild guess lol. Maybe the dealer will take the Innuos box back

Good morning roon community. Still diagnosing and wanted to post progress for those possibly in similar situation.

I am still guessing it is an authentication / login / account glitch on roon side.

I WAS able to login to my Innuos zen mini using the audio dealers login credentials. I played music. I saw music I downloaded and my Tidal account.

So, if I can login using someone else’s credentials, but not mine, in the exact same environment… what do you think a next step might be to try and resolve.

I believe I have just proven it is not my network nor is it the Innous zen Mini mk3. Maybe not…

Can I please have someone help me validate my credentials / login info / account status?

I saw a few similar posts here today. Maybe they are related? I refered to all of them in this post:

Flagging @support … hopefully they are still at work.

Sounds like a bigger issue than “oh you’re running Innous, that’s your problem”:rofl:

Ahhhh all is right in the world this morning as I simply could log in with no issues. Tah dah. (I made no changes to my set up  ) Now let’s see what’s under the hood.
thanks all.
