Describe the issue Qobuz volume levelling broken (again)

Further info
I have tried a good number of albums and all from Qobuz have a fixed -5dB when volume levelling enabled. Auto, Album and Track modes do this.

I’ve been playing with Roon volume levelling and over the months certainly more and more Qobuz albums seem to have some form of adjustment reading for Roon to work with, but it seems very hit and miss to me. For example I was listening to Roon radio and it was mostly playing 50’s 60’s female jazz vocals, which were often reduced by 5-7db, yet along comes a modern recording, obviously much louder (as is often the case) and it only gets reduced by 2db - making it much louder than the preceding tr…

Did you find out whether this is a Qobuz or a Roon issue? If perhaps this is a Qobuz issue, like that they’re only providing per track information, would it be possible to work around this (to make volume levelling more useful, especially for classical music)? I don’t know anything about the R128 algorithm, but would Roon be able to approximate the album gain if you now all the track gains and the track lengths?
Hey @Menzies-Old ,
Thanks for the report! If possible, could you share a specific track name the next time you experience this? If you’re able to share a screenshot of the signal path as well, that would be helpful for the team.
We’ll be on standby for your response

Hi @benjamin
I hope you and the Roon team are doing well.
Following my report I added Tidal to check, as I previously did, that I had different VL levels and I did.
I have removed Qobuz, cleaned up and logged back into Qobuz and waited for Roon to finish adding all my fave Qobuz albums.
Some of the previously checked albums now have varying VL levels, but this is only a few. One of these is below (the only one found so far)
Still showing a fixed -5dB VL, new and older.
? Why is this a solution? It looks like a re-statement of the problem with additional data points to me.
I too find Qobuz volume levelling erratic and unpredictable to say the least.

I must have marked it as the solution by mistake

Hi @Menzies-Old ,
Thanks for the examples! We’re having a tough time connecting with your Roon Server, could you please send over a set of manual logs? Here’s the link to our File Uploader .

Just to update you @benjamin I’m in the process of running a fresh installation of Roon Server. Wanted to clear up a few things.
After a fresh start I still have a -5.0 VL for all but 1 (so far) for Qobuz
I’ll upload the logs now
