@DrCWO with Spotify lossless now out I have to ask - how is the addon shaping, are you expecting to release this year?
I have rooSpot here on my development machine but it needs some more testing.
But as Spotify skipped its officeal public Release for Linux I use Librespot under the hood which is not yet ready for lossless. There’s currently a discussion going on in github regarding lossless.
So I will wait until lossless is implemented and after that add it to rooSpot and release it.

Thanks for the update, good to know that it is still on the table.
Hello,
The box isnt starting any more, only red led is on. What can i do ?
Is it constantly on?
In The manual starting at page 53 you can see the blinking signals of the rooExtend-Box red LED.
Best DrCWO
Yes, constantly on. No green light LAN any more. Several restarts dont help.
What I mean is being able to copy the button setting to another new page for a different device
For a different device? you use more than one Pi and multiple rooMax devices and want to copy the settings from one device to the other?
What about making a backup a USB-Memory stick and insert it in the second Pi before powering it on? As far as I remember the configuration is also saved on the USB stick.

So I just bought the license for rooplay and a PI 5 after Chatgpt said it would work on it. I etched the MicroSD card and low and behold, it didn’t work. I am now on my way back to return the Pi 5 and search for a Pi 4, unless someone on here says it should work on the Pi 5.
Pi 5 doesn’t work. I think 3 and 4 is what I saw.
Are updates broken right now?
I am having trouble with rooUPnP so tried an update and see this:

Good iea, Pi 5 is not yet supported.

Thanks, that did the trick. May I suggest adding a note to the Google Drive folder about this?
I’m working on the next release and publishing it I will also point to the hotfix in my release note. The new image in Google drive will include the hotfix so I see no need to put it in the google drive now.
Despite of that thanks’ for your support and your positive feedback ![]()

Accidentally deleted my post and can’t get it to repost, so retyping. ![]()
So I don’t know if rooPlay is designed for this, and it is a bit glitchy but is working if done in a specific order.
Rooplay can be used as a return send channel, for those of you who want to add effects from a song from Roon and then return it back into Roon to another device. In other words, I have a tube amp with preouts, If I wanted to add tube flavor to my songs from Roon this is my hookup. I am currently using a Raspberry Pi 4 b using a Topping E2X2 Dac. I have Roon playing to the E2X2 on the song I want to listen to, then have the analog outputs of the E2X2 go to my Tube amp then back into the inputs of the E2X2. I then start a second stream on Roon using your rooplay radio station as the source outputting to a Wiim Pro Plus or any other Roon Ready or Roon Endpoint. Voila, you now have tube effect from Roon, streaming to another device.
OFCOURSE, never have Rooplay STREAM to the DAC device as you will get feedback craziness.
You can now use Rooplay as an effects loop. You can now integrate Tube Amps into any Roon Ready Device or Roon Endpoint except of course the DAC you have attached to the rooPlay.
Now the order for it to work or it will cause a crash in rooPlay (Maybe the developer can optimize this?). You have to start the rooPlay station FIRST, then pick the song on Roon and then stream it to the DAC. If not in this order, for some reason rooPlay crashes. This is VERY powerful since you can in essence use any effects processing now with Roon with wireless lossless streaming.
Enjoy!

I also already played around with it ![]()
What I did is installing VB-Audio Matrix on my Roon Server plus a tool called swyh.rs. The latter is a Tool that grabs audio from a windows device and you can access it via http.
VB-Audio Matrix creates a lot of ASIO and Windows devices. You can for Example stream from Roon to a virtual ASIO device and grab the signal from one of the Virtual Windows outputs and connect it to swyh-rs.
After that you can stream the http FLAC stream with a Radio station and you have a loop.
Next install a VST-Plugin on your server, insert it in the loop and you can apply any affect you like. I for example added the “Tube Saturator Vintage” in the loop.

I found one of these for a good deal (used on Amazon). It got here yesterday and it’s such nice hardware! If you’re ready for a beta tester, sign me up! ![]()
The previous owner had deleted flash, but I was able to flash the OEM firmware and compile some apps for it without much trouble, so happy to help otherwise too (I have some open source and am doing app dev these days in NextJS and Python). ![]()
Nice! I had a similar idea of integrating VST effects using my RME UCX II and Abletone Live. I have A LOT of VST effect plugins and the UCX II with its software mixer gives me endless routing. This may be a new extension idea for you if you make it easier to do and not so technical. Imagine a Rooextension that lets you drop in any VST as an effects loop. The possibilities are endless and there’s A LOT of vintage inspired and vintage licensed VSTs (many VST effects are free!) to add compression, tube flavor, tape effects, EQ, and a way to integrate hardware effects and eq as well as I’ve done. This breaks Roon out!
