Roon 1.8 Android hangs and have to force close app [Fixed in Build 795]

Samsung S8 Android 9, same problems

Honor 8 Pro…
It‘s now months, do we get a refund? We pay full for a SW which doesn‘t work correctly… and support, the support to get the SW as she should before the release of V1.8…

795 has been released with a potential fix for this. Looking forward to test it at home tonight!

From the changelog:

  • Fixed Android crash on devices running certain ARM Mali GPUs

I tried the update:
Everything is working fine now (I had to reboot my phone)
Thanks @roon Team!

Same issue with an Android Huawei cell phone.

@SonicYouth95 Have you tried the latest roon update? (795)

Finally - it works!

can confirm after updating my mate 20 pro is now also behaving.

Shocked it’s taken this long to fix a huge issue with a premium paid for service and that it took support so long to even acknowledge there was an issue. At my software house where i work as a software engineer we would never get away with this kind of customer support.

I still really like the product but this has put a very sour taste in my mouth.

Yes. With the newest version the issue seems to be fixed.

Still hangs on startup on my Huawei Nova. Not as frequently but its still a problem. It does seem that I have to force close the app a bit less to get it to launch. Worst I’ve had so far is 4 times. However this is still seriously frustrating.

1.8 (build 795) installed on Core and Android Remote opened and connected first time on 15 repetitions so seems to be OK.

Thanks for resolving the issue but not particularly impressed by the response.

Big thanks to the Roon guys for fixing this.
Yes it may have taken some time, but winning a marathon is just as wortwhile as winning a sprint.
