I’m constantly experiencing this issue. My iPhone volume keeps going to 100% when using Roon app.
@Benjamin Since this issue has been identified a long time ago and was added to the ‘docket of big issues to correct’ over a year ago, what is the progress on this issue…? It’s been plaguing a lot of users for way too long.

Description of Issue
Start listening via Roon remote on iOS device.
Switching to another app, e.g., Mail sets the iOS device volume to maximum level.
It does not affect the volume handling in Roon (set to device volume). But, if you start for instance a Youtube video, the iOS volume is set to max!
Can be repeated!

Stefan
This has been a known issue for over a year but is still not fixed =(
When is this going to get sorted @support. This is a ridiculously old ticket for a feature that’s very broken. First time I used it was yesterday and as soon as it was enabled my volume of what I was playing went to 100. Not good at all it can potentially be damaging to hearing and system.
Experienced it for the first time today on a HomePod … not pleasant at all
No it’s not.
This one and the freezing remote bug bother me. Are these actively being worked on by support?
It’s ridiculous that it isn’t fixed indeed. It’s very annoying and unwanted. The fix works for me, but it’s stupid that it is need imo. Please update us why it hasn’t been fixed!
Hi everyone,
Please update to the latest build, released today, and let us know if you are continuing to experience this issue. We have released a fix that prevents Roon from restoring volume to 100% after the iOS system audio engages with another app.
We look forward to your comments. Thank you.
Unfortunately the issue isn’t fixed. No change from the last stable build.
Note that Roon doesn’t necessarily reset the volume to 100%. It fluctuates, when I set my phones volume to zero and open Roon, the iOS system volume now jumps to about 30%.
According to the changelog the fix seems tied to lockscreen controls, I don’t have those enabled in Roon.
Still suffering the problem here, post updates, setting safety limits does help a bit though…
Hello everyone,
It’s been a while since there was any activity on this thread. Could you please confirm if this issue is still ongoing or if it has been resolved for those affected?
I’ll set a topic timer for the thread to auto-close in two weeks, however, if you are still experiencing this behavior, please let us know, and we’ll be happy to re-evaluate. Thank you!
It has happened on iPad 12.9 pro & iPhone 15 pro recently but I’m not in a position to recheck for a couple of weeks…
I will be on the lookout, but have not noticed any incidents on iPhone 15 Pro over the autumn
2 posts were split to a new topic: Volume spikes on Roon for iOS [Investigating]
