The Hegel road to Roon Ready was an utter joke.
Or is there another company called Hegel offering Roon Ready?
Donât need to be rude. I just said they didnât call it Roon Ready until it was. Thatâs all. And in the end it was a job well done.

6/30 and still no Roon update on my Wiim Pro.
For all of you like me that keep refreshing this page for an update, the following was posted by the Wiim team a little earlier:
âWe released the official firmware update today with Roon Ready and it will be rolled out in batches through the weekend. Those who were whitelisted with Roon Ready, will also get the latest official update. Hope you enjoy it!â
Was interesting to read @AMT impressions. I had both my Wiim Pros whitelisted and got early access to the firmware Wednesday evening. I had been using them in Chromecast mode.
Maybe placebo, but I noticed a marked difference in separation and definition using them in ânativeâ Roon mode. They arenât used in a critical listening setup; they are each used for separate pairs of outdoor speakers.
I wasnât expecting an improvement, but they updated while I was listening on one of the sets of speakers, so I just added the Roon Ready outputs when the update was done and resumed playing music. I immediately noticed it sounded different in a good way.
Again, may be in my head, but native Roon sounds better to me than Chromecast did.
Edit: Each of the pros feeds its own Schiit Modi DAC via coax; they in turn are passed through their own preamps (Magni 3 for one pair and Sys for the other) which then feed a Schiit Gjallahorn per pair. Polk Atriums are the speakers.
Is there any way to manually force the firmware update?
Unfortunately not that I found. I followed the Google form link posted earlier in this thread.
Try a power cycle or whitelist it.
I was gonna do the google link but just figured Iâd wait. Itâs alright, Iâll just be patient. Should be in business by the time I get back into my office after the holiday.
Slam dunk! Roon, Tidal Connect, Spotify Connect, Chromecast. Iâve been waiting for this.
I wish my WiiM Pros would get the update.
Still waiting for SiriusXM and Iâm a happy man
Months ago: âRoon certification in Q2 of 2023â. Q2 comes and goes.
âŚwaiting âŚwaiting
Weeks ago: âRoon certification has passed, firmware update on 6/30/23â.

6/30/23: âWiim pro firmware available, just not to everyone, rolling out in batchesâ

I got the update on both of my WiiM pros. Works great. I was able to sync with another endpoint in Roon. Nice!
I thought the difference was quite noticeable as well
Sounds pretty good to me via coax into $20k Meridian active speakers with a decent 5v supply, and a little better when connecting iFi iPurifier2 in between.
No, I donât get a spectacular soundstage compared to much more expensive endpoints, but music is crisp & clean with perfectly acceptable frequency response.
An outstanding bargain!
Wiim had announced that the firmware was already released and should reach all devices during the weekend, and even so people in forums complained they STILL hadnât gotten it yet and how much more would they need to wait. Reminded me of some condescending early posts in this thread stating you should never buy a device based on upcoming features, even if the manufacturer had already given an estimated time of release. Come on people, where did the good old audiophile patience and trust go?
PS. Just got the firmware. It sounds fantaaastic!
I donât see them as condescending - more like cautionary and born out of bad experience with certain manufactures over-promising.
