I think USB out would be great but native HQPlayer NAA support would also be great.
The two of them together in a V2 would be
Apparently there is a WiiM Pro+ coming out by end of this month. Supposed to have a better DAC inside it, but nothing else really being changed (no USB out). Maybe on the WiiM Pro Enterprise edition
I think that you are going in the right direction
Maybe the WIIM PRO Plus Pro
100% with Mr Harri.s
Oh do share your source
Packing mine back up and returning it on Sunday when I get home (ok not really)
(But my son has a DAC in his amplifier so it will use that)
Okay ā¦ cuz Iām such a nice guy I will share my super-secret source:
And apparently named WiiM Pro Plus (personally I like WiiM Pro+ better )
miss hdmi in or coax in.
Product page has been removed but hereās a cached link for WiiM Pro Plus:
I wonder if Roon Ready status is needed/pending for this newer device before they want to start selling it
Yes itās a different device and will require it. There are no compromises on that but as all the hard work has been done it should be a lot quicker to achieve as the software is likely to be the same.
Looks like on 8/8 the Pro Plus will be available on US Amazon store
WiiM Pro Plus for $219 now available on US Amazon store (includes remote, much better DAC, glossy black finish, Roon Ready status pending). Original WiiM Pro now $159 (includes remote, matte black finish, Roon Ready now).
I got the Wiim Pro back in July, it was discounted but it would have been nice to have a remote.
Based on there being two boards in the WiiM Pro, one being the streamer and the other the DAC board (I believe) then it could be fair to say Roon Ready from the box with an external DAC.
On Amazon UK, the Pro variant still isnāt listed as Roon Ready, so the lack of the marketing isnāt a clear answer for the Pro Plus.
I did as well ā¦ $127 for the combo (Pro and remote). I havenāt opened it yet waiting to see about the pricing for Pro Plus (still within return window). I think Iām going to hold onto it because: a) I donāt like glossy black (haha), and b) who knows how long before Roon Ready will be ready. Still a great deal though for the Pro Plus - the price differential isnāt that large considering youāre getting a much better DAC inside (seems like a deal). I may also get the Pro Plus (and hide it to avoid the gloss ) when it gets discounted as Iām slowly working on replacing all my Sonos gear with Roon Ready outputs.
This is promising from the WiiM product support team for the next version (how about calling it āWiiM Pro Ultimateā ):
Thank you for your excellent suggestion. Multichannel audio is indeed one of the key features we are planning for our future devices. Iāll present the idea of incorporating an HDMI out interface to our product team for consideration. Your insights are valuable to us.
So I have 2 WiiM Pros as Roon Ready endpoints (1 to AVR (Ethernet connected), 1 to powered speakers in kitchen (Wi-Fi connected). The one in kitchen sits perfectly atop my Sonos Connect to share the same speaker set. The Roon connection is rock solid to them both, including when grouped together (perfectly synced, etc.). Was worried about the one being Wi-Fi, but doesnāt appear to cause any kind of issue when grouped together. Iām hoping this actually improves over using Sonosnet for playing Roon (so far so good).
In the WiiM Home App (WHA), you can group the speakers together to play in sync. In Roon you can also group them as well. Is there a recommendation on where its best to do the grouping (WHA vs. Roon)? Or maybe it truly doesnāt matter (i.e. can I just have both apps group both speakers together, or only stick to Roon app to have them grouped)? Today I ran into a Roon issue when playing music to the group where it kept skipping tracks because it couldnāt find them (or something to that effect - I canāt remember exactly what it said when it was doing this). When it was doing this, I had the Group setup in Roon (and the WHA actually showed both as separate and not grouped).
I ended up rebooting everything (both WiiMs and Roon Core), and so far so good (only Grouped in Roon app, and not grouped together in WHA). Thanks.
Hi everybody !
Is the Wiim Pro not RoonReady through Chromecast ?
Because when i read the specifications of this device in the Wiimās site ,
they said it supports Chromecast ā and Roon core can connect to Chromecast.
For example - I use usually Chromcast Audio as endpoint , But i can also use my Sony TV as endpoint ; because it is equiped with Chromecast .
Chromecast features a sub set of room support like Airplay and Sonos net.
RAAT is the best supported service and supports the best synchronisation as well as other features like DSP (still synchronised across multiple devices.
The WIIM Pro supports RAAT, Chromecast and Airplay so can play with all the services and link with anything that Roon sees
