Roon Server cannot connect with this version of ARC [Ticket In; Resolved with ARC Reinstall]

It says it’s time for an update and to “Please update your Roon Server to reconnect”. I’ve checked and it says I have the latest build, version 2.0, build 1462. I went to the Google Play store and the Roon ARC does not have any updates available.

How do I fix this–I love using Roon ARC when I’m on the go.

Is this the phone or the Server? have you checked to see what each is on to compare?

I have ARC on my phone. The message is on my phone, but it says I need to upgrade my Roon Server. The Server is the latest build and the ARC app on my phone has no new updates. Port forwarding works, I’ve had ARC working for a long time now and this message is new. Not sure what to do.

This has come up several times recently although the versions were all ok. What helps is uninstalling and reinstalling ARC, though you will lose your ARC downloads.

Thanks. I’ll do that.

That worked. I’ve been using ARC since it came out and I never had that happen before. Thanks for your help.

Yeah it seems to be a new issue which apparently only affected some people, for unknown reasons

Hi,
When I log in to my server using ARC, suddenly it tells me my server version is to old and must be updated. ARC has worked fine previously. Login process and account as well as network connection seem to work.
What do I do?

Hi @Rives_Bird,

Thank you for the report.

There’s a ticket in for this behavior with development.

Do you have an approximate timestamp of when you first encountered this issue, or when you last experienced it before the reinstall resolved the problem?

Development would like to activate diagnostic logging to inspect what went wrong with ARC. We’ll use our findings to prevent recurrence of this issue for you and other users moving forward.

Hi @Reinhold_Konnander,

Thank you for your post. Please reinstall the app for due diligence - this workaround has fixed the issue for other users.

Development is investigating this issue and we’ll post with further updates as available.

It first occurred Friday October 4th around 4pm eastern time. It was resolved immediately after I uninstalled and reinstalled ARC which would have been shortly before I responded to the prior message that it works now.

Thanks @Rives_Bird, we should have what we need to proceed with development. Please post here if the issue occurs again.

The same problems still exist here too. Are there any new solutions yet? The recommended uninstallation was not successful.
Thanks.

The uninstallation only helps if the versions of the server and apps are actually OK. In this case, the message was erroneous in the affected cases.

There is another scenario, for which this message was actually meant: the versions are mixed up. In this case, the uninstall/reinstall does not help and isn’t supposed to. Please check that your Roon (Server) installation and all control apps are using either the regular Production track or are using the Early Access (Beta) track, and that they are all up to date.

What’s happening?

· I'm having trouble with Roon ARC

What best describes your issue with ARC

· I can't log into ARC but I can log into Roon

Describe the issue

Roon ARC requires an update to connect to my Nucleus + server but when I go to the nucleus the version is 2.0 build 1462 and it claims it is the latest version. The problem is the same with Roon ARC on Android or Roon ARC on Ipad

Describe your network setup

Wifi through a Box for the phone, Ethernet connection for nucleus + Roon is working fine

Hi @Serge_Cohen,
Thanks for reaching out to us about this issue. @Suedkiez is right that there is an open ticket regarding this. I’ll merge this thread into that one so you will get the updates as we know more.

Reinstallation of ARC worked fine. It did not work a week ago.
Thank you

Had the same problem & reinstalling fixed it.

Note - I had tried entering in offline mode and looked at the server information in Arc and it said it was build 300, so it looks like the issue is that Arc is not correctly determining the version of the server. Maybe picks it up on first install then never updates it.
