· The device has no problems with another audio source
Have you checked that Roon is whitelisted in any firewalls?

Describe the issue
I am using my Ayon S-10 (Roon Ready) for 7 years with my Rock (Roon Optimized Core Kit). Due to a different issue I did a "factory" reset two days ago. After the factory reset, Roon is now no longer connecting the my streamer. Error Message: "Unfortunately, the manufacturer has not yet completed certification for this device". This cannot be true after 7 years of flawless service.
Describe your network setup
Rock and Ayon S-10 have a wired connection to separate Asus GT-AC 5300 users. Those routers are connected via an AI wireless mash.
The S-10 itself was never a Roon Ready certified device - the Ayon S-10 II is the only certified device.
Diagnostics from RoonServer show this device reporting as an S-10.
Forgive the redundancy, but can you confirm the actual model of this device?
There are two likely possibilities here:
This device is an S-10 (original model) that was accidentally loaded with S-10 II firmware, causing it to be recognized as Roon Ready. The firmware reset has corrected this mistake, accurately identifying the device as a non-Roon Ready S-10 (original model).
or
This is an S-10 II that has erroneously reverted to S-10 (original model) firmware after the factory reset, causing it to be recognized as non-Roon Ready. In this case, you’ll likely need to reach out to Ayon directly to reset the firmware or configuration.
Another possibility is that the factory reset has changed the network configuration - try a full power on/off cycle for the Ayon device (unplug, wait 10 seconds, plug back in and turn on).
many thanks for your response. We are talking about an S-10 (original model). Still, I might add that this model was always sold is certified as “Roon ready”. Of course, as you said, it is not “Roon certified”. Since, I have been starting to use this model before the end-date of the “Roon ready” program, I thought, I am safe to continue using this model. I bought the device in 2018 and have been using it with the latest version of Roon (constant updates) ever since.
All I am after is to continue this success story.
I think that the original model was one of those that advertised Roon Ready before actually receiving certification of such. Sometime ago, Roon stopped allowing devices which actually did not receive Roon Ready certification from being enabled, or, re-enabled.
I think I found the text from an email of that announcement in 2020…
What is changing?
Starting September 21st, Roon Ready devices that are uncertified will no longer have the ability to be enabled on the Audio Settings screen. When this change is made, uncertified devices will be discoverable, but cannot be Enabled for use with Roon.
Why is it changing?
The Roon Ready certification allows people to trust that they’re getting the best quality possible, but when products are prematurely released before their certification is complete, that trust is undermined. Not only can it create problematic situations for all parties involved, it hurts the reputation of the entire Roon Ready program.
How will this impact me?
If your device is Enabled in Roon’s settings, it will stay Enabled. But if you Disable the device, you will not be able to Enable it again after September 21st.
If you purchase a device that is not certified as Roon Ready, you will not be able to Enable it for use after September 21st.
What do you need to do?
Avoid Disabling the device after September 21st
Contact your device’s manufacturer to make sure that they are working to complete their Roon Ready certification.
many thanks for your feedback. Since I did not disable my device, I still have the hope that it will function again - after talking to the manufacturer / distributor.
If the factory reset is tantamount to disabling the device, I will end-up with a streamer with no streaming capabilities - meaning a very expensive DAC.
I’m so sorry to hear that Ayon wasn’t able to help any further or assist you in getting set up with a properly certified device.
Since this issue is related to a third-party device that isn’t directly supported by Roon, our ability to assist is unfortunately limited.
Have you had a chance to check for any firmware updates that might improve compatibility? Sometimes updates released after the initial launch can help resolve issues like this.
Hi @christian.stork,
Thanks for keeping us updated on the situation with Ayon. We understand how frustrating this must be. We’re going to check in with the rest of the Roon team to see if there’s anything we can do to help get your Ayon working with Roon.
That said, we can’t make any promises, but we’ll let you know if we find anything that might help. We appreciate your patience, and we’ll follow up as soon as we have more information.
Some time has passed since we last spoke, but I do have an update to share with you that I think you’ll be pleased to hear. While the Ayon S-10 has never officially passed certification, it did have an initial round of Roon Ready integration completed.
In the initial round, basic music streaming was completed, but full volume control and sync between other Roon zones with the Ayon S10 was not completed. As such and to provide you with a slight benefit of this testing, we have gone ahead and enabled the basic streaming aspect of the Ayon S-10 for your account, if you reboot your Roon Server twice, it should now be operational.
Let us know if you have any issues with playback, and keep in mind that the other options you can perform with this device will be limited, but we hope that the usage you are able to get out of it can now be acceptable. Thanks!
After intense testing , I can confirm that my S-10 works as before.
I would like to extend my sincere gratitude for your support and very customer-friendly approach.
Roon - as usual - improves the streaming experience, selection of music and management of my tracks significantly.
In the end, this increases the “productive life” of my S-10 for quite some years.
