I created a filter in MP3Tag to find all tracks that I purchased at Beatport and added the name Beatport Single under the ROONTRACKTAG.
I have around 650 tracks that now have this. I rescanned my entire database in Roon but for the life of me I cannot search or find where this ROONTRACKTAG is. I thought I could search for Beatport Single in the main search bar but it comes up with no results. I cannot find it in the Tags area either.
How can I see in Roon that the ROONTRACKTAG is showing up correctly for each track? Also, how do I search for just the Beatport Singles under the ROONTRACKTAG.
I have had tags stop importing in recently when using ROONALBUMTAG to an existing tag. No idea why but Support seemed to think it was tied to some oddity they know about. I ended up retiring the tag that didn’t work and removed it from all albums and swapped it for a new one, which is working now.
For the OP you can focus on tags in the browser if it’s an album tag not sure about tracks as don’t use the track tag as I only listen to albums.
Tags are not directly searchable like that. Tags are in their own area shown by the Tag Icon
To see that the tag is being displayed in the album view you would need to go to the album view to look. Keep in mind you need to have the display track tags in album view setting ON. example:
Go to the Tracks or Album view click on the Tag Icon and then choose the Tag
Depends on the output you want. If you want to see the Singles displayed like albums, then go to the Tags section and choose the Tag. If you want more of a track listing, then go to the Tracks page, click the Tag Icon, choose the Tag you want.
Thank you very much. I’ve made some progress but I’m still struggling.
I can now see the ROONTRACKTAG which displays as Beatport Single (see below)
However, when I click on the tag link I get the following
I cannot find the beatport single tag anywhere else. when I go into the tag section or search under focus it is nowhere to be found. It doesn’t make sense.
I’ve found ROONTRACKTAG can be a bit flaky. Particular tag wording can cause it to “malfunction”.
For example, I tried using it as a way to play tracks by genre at track level. However, I ran onto issues like yours when I tried creating a Christmas and Classical ROONTRACKTAG. For some unknown reason, Roon can’t handle some track tags being named the same as some Roon genres (other genre names worked fine as roontracktags).
Many of my tracks show a tracktag “Classical”, but clicking on it Roon says it doesn’t exist, and there is no way to delete the so called “non-existent” tracktag from those tracks (it’s been this way for years now with no resolution from Roon support).
I mention this because I’m wondering if your use of the word “Single”, which Roon normally sees as a version, is giving Roon a fit. You might try using a different name, or just drop the word “single” to see if that works. In my case, using Classical_ and Christmas_ (added an underscore at the end) worked.
I wouldn’t hold your breath for a fix. This has been an issue since roontracktag/roonalbumtag was introduced years ago (my posts about the issue goes back to Jan 2020).
