New House… New Setup… TV to follow

Haven’t posted in while, but I’ve now moved into a new residence, so thought I’d share the revamped audio setup. The house is almost 100 years old. Interior renovated 6 years ago. A good blend of charm and modern conveniences.

I’ve always felt having a dedicated room where I could easily walk behind the AV rack to fiddle with wiring would be oh-so-nice-to-have. That’s what I’ve done here. The room is also used for household / home office storage. Once the 65" TV arrives it will block most of what is visible on the shelves. The AV Rack sits just past the archway into the room, allowing me the ability to slip into the room on either side. The archway will nicely frame the TV once it’s set up on the top shelf of the AV Rack. I’ll post a pic once that is set up.

The listening / TV room is approx 14’ x 14’. The Devialet Phantom II 98db are a great match for this size of room. Paired with the digital room correction of the miniDSP SHD-Studio and dampening with rugs and couches, the room calibration ended up working out very well.

For interest, the AV setup is:

2-Channel: Devialet Phantom II 98dB • miniDSP SHD-Studio • Mutec MC-3+ USB • Custom Roon Rock • Silent Angel Bonn N8 • APC H15 • Mistral Audio W-3900

The TV will be:

Sony Bravia AJ08 Smart OLED TV 65". Looking forward to setting that up as I’ve gone without a TV for a few years.

In the rest of the house I’ve Roon feeding a few smart speakers, primarily Klipsch The Three’s via Chromecast.

Cheers.

I think I can make it Roon Ready with a Raspberry Pi…

This will be a whole new market “make your old jewelry Roon Ready or testet by mikeb”. If Roon gives a Ready here, you will be a role model for other great hobbyists.

I also love these old parts with the warm sound, but I don’t collect.

We had something very similar to this when I was a nipper. I can remember being fascinated by the “magic eye” tuning aid.

Uhh… They’re not “wireless” speakers, nor are they marketed as such. They are controlled and can stream music via an RJ45 connection (CAT5/6) cable to the network. Nothing “wireless” about them.

Hello,

if you use a Hifiberry Hat with HifiberryOS, then you get a RoonReady endpoint out of the box. HifiberryOS is certified as RoonReady.

Gunter the Hifiberry hat’s also work with Ropieee as well as I have a couple of them. Both options work very well, depending on your preference

R.I.P. my. Sony Walkman 1987

Just stopped working.
I wonder if the guarantee has run out

No , it is not the battery. Tried a fresh AA.

Probably not worth getting it fixed.

Crap, and the 30-year warranty has probably expired as well, I hope Roon gets you over this bitter loss.

Next time you buy, look out for the 300-year warranty.

Didn’t they have a lifetime warranty :joy_cat:

I threw a few of them and mini disc players out a few years ago along with Early mp3 players. There were just to many gadget’s and none ever used.

… but likely the rubber belt …

Looks like a big cat. Maine coon perchance?

Yes! I have two maine coon cats. Not fully grown yet.
Wonderful animals and very social.

I can’t believe I’ve never heard of, much less seen a Maine coon cat!

I Googled it to see what they looked like and was amazed at how big they are!

Please don’t tell me that the headphones also died. :headphones:

Used a pair of Beyer, can’t even remember if they came with a pair to be honest.

Will open it up and take a look if anything obvious stands out as broken.
