Showing (off) your Roon setup - description and photos [2021 .. 2022]

That’s one of the problems with keeping older audio equipment in that it often sounds much better than anything one could buy with the money one gets from selling it. For example there is one of these Kenwood amps on Ebay for $95. Try finding something new for under $100 that will sound better than this Kenwood amp. I think that your repurposing of this amp is the right and smart thing to do. :+1:

What speakers and headphones (I see that it has a headphone joutput) are you using with the Kenwood?

I own exactly one set of speakers (harbeth compact 7es3), so that’s what I’m using with the kenwood … a weird mix, but the kenwood can handle it

not a regular headphone listener, but I have some grado sr60’s that work well when my music choices :metal: would otherwise get me banished from the room

Excellent setup! Could you share how you were able to make Chromecast Audio wired? Thanks!

Hi!
The SME was an adition yeah… And I don’t understand you about the spindle… you mean the main axle? It’s a ceramic white one… and it’s stock…

Looks great and sounds great too, I’m sure.

Sorry I missed your question. I use a DEQX to time align and equalise. There are a few configurations I can choose from. I can use the subs and the speakers in full range, or the subs and the MBLs rolled off below 80Hz. The latter is probably the most accurate but I prefer the sound with the subs and the MBLs at full range. I also added a “house curve” to further tune the sound to my liking.

Thanks (I think) :grinning: I made the skyline diffusers myself. There are 8 panels in that photo, each panel is 144 pieces, so its a lot of work. But the calculator is here if you want to give it a go. Calculate Skyline Diffusor with given frequencies

Thanks, I think its part of the human condition to never be completely satified. I would really like a dedicated listening room that is properly treated for thsi system, but that is sadly unlikely.

Brings back memories! My first ever stereo amp as a teenager in the early 70s was a slightly earlier but very similar model.

Kenwood used the brand name of ‘Trio’ in the UK because ‘Kenwood’ was (& still is) aUK based manufacturer of kitchen appliances.

Nice! I am so sorry that I sold all the stuff I owned as a teenager. The only exception is my Technics tape deck.

I’m also still having one of these golden oldies in operation: Pioneer A-88x, 1985, next to 20 KGS.

I’m not who this question was directed to, but there are micro USB/ethernet adapters out there that do the trick

Hi, @Pablo_Gutierrez

Clearaudio offered a ceramic? inverted bearing intended to reduce friction. My recollection is the cost was about 12 to 1300.00 dollars in 2004-5. I’ve never had a problem with the bronze inverted bearing, but I did stop using the lubricant that was supplied and switched to a Teflon product. I asked about the bearing upgrade because your drive belt rides about 12 mm lower on the platter and I supposed it might be a different bearing. I’ve posted pictures on the Do you have a turntable in your System thread. Click on my avatar to find my posts.

I am still enjoying the Clearaudio Unify tonearm that came with the turntable but would like to know what arm came with your Champion L2 and your satisfaction with the new arm.

Best regards, John

Thank you! I have a couple of Chromecast Audios I want to set up somewhere wifi is weak but where an ethernet line exists.

I’m talking about the axle not the bearings. Bearings are stock ones. Just saw your pics and you have something between the two pieces of the motor.

I got it used so it wasn’t me who changed tone arm sorry
