It has been discussed last week in Software category. I will add this here in Music section. The scourge of horrible, non serious, cheesy albums is a daily scourge. Today in New Releases Classical music for you, 10 of 40 titles are these pathetic editions. Not only a lack of respect to serious classical music listeners but also…in jazz ! Today from 18 jazz new releases 5 are John Mc Laughlin completely unbelievable titles and covers: “If you ever think of me”, “Irish coffee cream” !!!, “Framework” :))), “Lute breath” !!!, “Lightning streaks twice” :))), also “Relaxing jazz” and “Cafe Moments” 2 by Hiromi.. I tried to listen some of them, they sound like Mc Laughlin and Hiromi but I think they are not real and original. Even the titles of the song, “quiet coffee break” “winter calm”. All from TIDAL. Look how pathetic the covers are:
Please someone responsible in Tidal and Qobuz and Roon: stop this horrible trend. The scourse is also present in You Tube and Spotify, same “records”.
I don’t know if and how much it surfaces in the Qobuz app right now but generally this poisoning with albums of expired or questionable copyright (and more recently with Ai slop) for farming streams has been a problem for a long time. Of course these assholes try what one could call „hacking“ the systems in order to get this content into peoples‘ feeds.
There were discussions in the past about how Roon code is trying a lot to filter these out, and e.g. they added the More section in discography:
I suppose somehow these filters are currently breaking down at least in some areas.
Those John McLaughlin records are being issued by Badjammer Records. They seem to be all over the internet, but there’s no presence for Badjammer Records. Is this a front for bootleg McLaughlin recordings or is it someone impersonating him or is it AI? It would be interesting to hear from John if he’s actually associated with Badjammer and is he getting paid for this stuff?
