Since Roon does not monitor the Roon Software Discussion category, please open a Support request. Presently, I have not seen similar issues reported, so this may only affect you, and Roon should take a look at the logs.
This wasnāt just me. My post quotes from a related thread.
I think this does not require contacting Support, as this is a separate section for translations.
So I want to bring this to @mike & @ivan attention instead
We were in the process of migrating the translation system to a new logging flow, and during that transition there may have been a short window where things didnāt behave as expected. That could explain what you were seeing.
Everything should be operating normally now, but please let us know if youāre still noticing any issues and weāll take another look.
Thank you for your efforts, now itās up to us translators to make the most this.
I really appreciate the explanations for each phrase in the localizely app, it makes it a LOT easier to translate within the right context.
However, the delay in translation duties has caused a significant heap of phrases to appear in the old tool as well, translations.roonlabs.net. Unfortunately phrases there appear completely out of context, with no explanatory text and no traces of where they originated (as in, is this a partner provided text from a commersial entity, such as as the old Audeze-partnership).
My simplified point of view is; i have agreed to translating Roon as a service for the company and anyone who enjoy using the Roon product in my language, not to provide service to partnering commercial companies selling products or services.
However, i am not very inclined to translate āsales materialā from partners. My interest is in making the Roon experience as good as possible for countrymen who are less confident in English. I also donāt want the result to appear as patch work, there are way to many examples of that already.
Iād like Roonās stance on these points, if possible. And of course, fellow translators opinions are most welcome as well.
When progressing through the phrases in translations.roonlabs.net i see a flood of strange phrases which are hard coded to either third party products and devices or the overflow of phrases to make nugs useful. There are far more phrases for Nugs than there are for TIDAL and Qobuz combined iād say? Previously i have got the impression that phrases were more dynamic, using variables for {streaming.service} as an example.
This is simply unacceptable
I immediately voted as This is Wrong.
It seems the Roon team should reconsider access to the translation system. Only verified and responsible users should have access to the system.
And itās better to get system superadmin rights to be able to delete such contributions. @ivan, @vova, is this possible?
The door is, so to speak, open to unwanted intruders. @Mike I wonder if a backup option is available in the event of misuse. It would be a disaster if the enormous amount of time I have put into translating could be destroyed. Furthermore, the translated version of Roon would then become unusableā¦
I recently spent some extra time manually compiling all the string variants and my translations into an Excel spreadsheet.
I did this to clearly identify duplicates and develop a strategy for consistent terminology inside Roon itself and between Roon and ARC. But it could probably also be useful for backup purposes
