Unable to Start Music on Naim MuSo 1st Gen (ref#SXLPUV)

· The System Output has *no problem*, it's only my other Zone.

How is the affected Zone connected to your RoonServer machine?

· Network - WiFi

Which network audio protocol is the Zone using with Roon?

· Airplay

Since this is an Airplay Zone, have you tried toggling Airplay Compatibility Mode for this Zone in the Device Setup window?

· There is no change in behavior.

Does the device show up at all in Roon Settings -> Audio?

· The Zone is listed under the wrong protocol

Does the device play audio from another source when using the same connection?

· The device has no problems with another audio source

Have you checked that Roon is whitelisted in any firewalls?

· I've checked the firewall and the issue remains

If the device has multiple output options, do the other options work as expected?

· Multiple output types are affected

Is the device using the latest firmware as per the manufacturer?

· Firmware is up-to-date but the issue remains

What are the make and model of the affected audio device(s) and the connection type?

· Naim Muso 1st Gen - App Version 7.0 Build 11281 version 2.0.00

This is because Roon added AirPlay 2 support, the Mu-so 1 only supports AirPlay 1, and Roon‘s built-in fallback doesn’t work otherwise at the moment

Team Roon: Is there a forecast re-enabling AirPlay 1 functionality?

It seems to work for most AP1 endpoints (sometimes with compatibility mode), the Mu-so 1 seems to be one of few outliers that needs the Apple Home entry. No idea about the resolution timeline, though.

  • Configured Compatibility Mode in Roon

  • Installed, and configured Apple Home.

    • Added the Naim Muso v1
  • Results are the same - attempts to play never get started.

  • Apple Home App informs “No Remote Access. To control your accessories while away from home, set up a home hub”.

    • Is this an additional, unstated requirement for the “Workaround”?

In many other cases before, like the one I linked, people confirmed „it works now“ after adding it to Apple Home and enabling the compatibility mode.

I don’t think that they did anything special and I don’t think that Apple Home remote access has anything to do with it because this is for, well, remote access.

I don’t know what else to do, maybe official support does when they return
