Still have same issues I had my own ticket for 21 days had one response nothing since as seems to the case with any ticket I put in.
This isn’t a local WiFi issue as it didn’t do this exact behaviour before the latest update. Roon has always disconnected when idle for some time in the background and sometimes it doesn’t seems to depend on how much iOS is up to before it kills resources to Roon app in this situation it will show you reconnected instantly back to the core. But since this update it doesn’t show you it’s disconnected at all nor does it try to reconnect. All initially looks fine you still see the page you where on, you can navigate back to cached pages but try and play something no dice, now playing is stuck on where it lost connection, browse to any other section not cached you get the jellyfish. A restart of app it’s back to normal until next time. Rinse and repeat. It can be fine for a while then it will for no reason when screen is asleep pick it up and it’s unresponsive again.
I logged this problem 26 days ago. Roon @support went back and forth initially, but a couple of days ago they said they are looking with priority.
Now, this is my first problem with Roon (I joined April) and first interaction with support, and this is a huge disappointment. This is a no-match for a high dollar software, I never imagined support will be so lacking.
Question: what does Roon do in such situations, where many people are reproting similar problem? Do they release an emergency patch, or is it gonna be fixed in the next update?
In the meantime, we are putting up with a very poor release, that should not have made it even to beta testing.
I appreciate you are frustrated by this issue, but that’s completely unfounded speculation. Please do not post these misguided thoughts as though they way facts. Further remarks like this will not be tolerated.
I do wonder how many are having these issues .
It’s frustrating , love roon but support is slow ……and that’s not knocking the people who volunteer to do this
I typically start listening between 9:00 and 9:30 pm EST. I pick up my current gen iPad Air running Roon Remote v2.0 build 1352 and the app is either partially frozen (can navigate around but artists, albums etc. are blank) or completely frozen. I shut down the app on the iPad and restart it and it then behaves normally for the rest of the night. I set the iPad aside when I’m done listening and when I return to it the next evening I repeat the cycle.
This happens regardless of whether other apps are running on the iPad. If I do run other apps, they work normally even while the Roon Remote app is frozen and I don’t experience any WiFi issues.
The same for me. Sometimes also the progress bar (how far the song is) is frozen, even though the song goes on. Having to restart things synchronize again correctly.
Same for me, the list of the songs playing just freezes.
Oh and so many other issues, but I guess I am one of the lucky ones as when I turn the IPad off and on again it does work…just sometimes its only for 20 minutes or so
I don’t know if I have this problem or another one and I’m in trouble with the wife now. Due to the Roon app taking up around 6GB on her iPad I asked her to reinstall it. I had to do the same on my ipad earlier in the year to fix this common memory hog issue. Now the iPad won’t reconnect to Roon, just says ‘looking for Roon server’ with the Roon jellyfish wobbling away. Is this a known ‘1353’ issue or another one? Will try reboot and another reinstall on the iPad later.
System is ROCK and all wired. I have the usual ‘1353’ search issues intermittently since the last update but other than that Roon is working OK on all other endpoints, wired and wireless (iPad & Android phones).
I’ve been experiencing the same issues with the iOS remote in recent weeks. I’m on app build 1352 with server build 1353.
In my case, there are no issues with actual playback from my Rock to my Cambridge Evo but the phone app hangs, as if the remote lost and can’t re-establish connection to the server and is stuck in an old state with a previous song showing as Now Playing.
If I kill the app and restart it, it works fine momentarily but quickly hangs again as I switch to other apps (News, messaging, etc) and back to Roon. Some evenings it’s bad enough that I have to restart the app every time I want to use it to the point that I’ve started to use the physical Cambridge remote for volume control or skipping a track.
My phone recently updated to iOS 17.2 but the app hangs still occur. I’m not sure exactly when this issue started. It feels like it was only a few weeks ago. So I’m not sure what combination of iOS and Roon versions triggered it.
Support, do you have an update on the status of this issue? I also continue to have problems with the iPhone app. For me, the remote is an essential component of the Roon service. So it would be great to have this resolved as soon as possible.
An updated build with likely fixes was just released for Early Access testing. If testing goes well, I suppose it won’t take too long to be promoted to production.
