Yep you’re right–it mentions it will stretch it a bit if used regularly so recommends getting a separate one for use with the adapter.
Hahaha! Absolutely Ged.
It’s interesting though, comparing Lingo 4 to Radikal?
They both use similar speed-regulating methods, but it’s the DC motor with Radikal that’s the game-changer IMO.
It might be because the DC motor is ‘smoother’, thereby transmitting less noise and vibration to the platter.
I had the original lingo in a very old lp12 with an rb300 arm. Bit of a mongrel but sounded amazing.
However, one living space, a bouncy floor and kids meant it was a fleeting experience.
I eventually gave in and flogged it.
SL-7 doesn’t bounce.
My last deck was a Rega Planer 3/RB300/A&R P77 combo, before I got my LP12 in 1987. The Rega was a beautiful deck, and was absolutely amazing value. PLUS it would ‘play anywhere’, on any surface.
The Linn is fussy, and a bit of a PIA with regard to siteing. More care is required in positioning, and overall care.
If I was starting-off with vinyl today (rather than 40-years ago), I would plump for a Rega and be done. Superb decks.
Next time I see Roy Gandy, I’ll pass your high praise of Rega on to him.
Not the greatest photo, but this is my Gold Note Meditteraneo with the Donatello Gold MC cartridge doing the right level of justice to the Doors.
The deck is also utilising Gold Notes PH-10 phono stage, Hegel H160 and Bucchardt S400 Limited Edition to put me in musical heaven.
Basis 1400 with an Origin Live Silver arm mated to a Zu/Denon 103 MC with a Lehmann Black Cube SE II as the phono stage.
Turntable, check!
Vinyl, check!
Beautiful TT’s listed here. Glad to see so much support for Vinyl along with Roon. My table is a Clearaudio Champion Level 2 with the CA Unify 9" tonearm. I currently alternate a MC Benz Micro Wood SL and MM Clearaudio Charisma cartridges. McIntosh C49 pre-amp/phono stage/DAC/line stage.
Just a review -
Nothing super duper fancy… Just a Music Hall mmf-7.3 with an Ortofon 2M Bronze and a Schiit Mani phono pre, all connected with Wire World cables. It certainly gets the job done.
I think I am of the few that never got rid of my records from when I started buying them in the 70s. I still use my VPI TT regularly, especially to play Jazz records.
does the DAT have a digital out (to the Bifrost?)
Likewise. However, I didn’t start buying my own until about 25 years ago, but I have all, and I do mean ALL of my father’s and all three of my brothers albums from the early 70’s through early 90’s.
You better believe it does! It’s connected via coaxial. And I can tell you, the Bifrost 2 sounds a LOT better than the built-in DAC in the sv-3700.
Still spinning LP’s from the 60’s through last weeks purchase, Muddy Waters Complete Plantation Recordings. Linn LP-12 downstairs from the early 90’s and my first audiophile(?) turntable upstairs, a Kenwood KD-500m direct drive unit, recently cleaned up brought back to service.
Just got a Clearaudio Concept MC about a year+ ago with a phonostage… it’s nice to have options, either play an LP, or a CD (very rare these days) or stream music with Roon!
My vinyl setup is a Technics SL1000 mk2 with an EPA-100p tonearm whilst waiting for an EPA-100mk2 returning from service. Gold Note PH-10 and Park Audio Puffin phono stages. A work in progress and never ending story. Roon makes listening to music so easy, hence the turntable.
Rega RP10 w/Aphelion cartridge; and restored AR XA with Nagaoka MP200 cartridge, in curly maple plinth.
that AR is lovely. also looks like an RP10, not a P10.
