Thanks for your reply Benjamin, always nice to get a response…something so simple as a reply is much appreciated,it’s also just good business etiquette!
On to the Tidal-Roon syncing issue I’m having. Last night I reinstalled my Surface (Roon server ),and the two remotes I use with all now having early access. I also did a restore from a backup which was made as a regular backup a few days ago.All was up and running, though the syncing problem remained.
This morning I opened Roon to play something and saw that only a very small number of Tidal albums were in my collection and I’m talking approximately 4 or 5 %.Albums and music from my Nas were all there, and the albums I had added over the years in Tidal still appeared in the Tidal app, just not in Roon.Strangely, songs from albums I had added that are in numerous personal playlists are all still playable, though the albums they were saved from are no longer in my collection. Bizarre!
All in all a bit of a nuisance, but I do have faith in the development team to come up with a fix for this slight hiccup, Roon for me is generally just beautiful software to use.
@Roon Support
Elaborating further on my comments above regarding the malfunctioning synchronization between Tidal and Roon. A concrete example: Both albums have been added in Tidal to my album list last Friday (21st). a) Marillion - An hours before it’s dark (Live) and Avril Lavigne - Greatest hits. While Marillon has been synchronized into Roon (!), Avril Lavigne not (?). Roon/Setting/Serives is still constantly synchronizing with Tidal (The message is throughout the session the same)
Overall from the 30 or so albums added into my albums list in Tidal in the last 10 days only 5 of them are now in Roon. Interesting that sporadically an album gets through into Roon… Could it be that this is a geographical issue?
Again, thanks for your help and providing a regular update in respect to the challenge resolution.
Can we get an update on this? Still can’t use roon or ARC currently
Hi Everyone,
Our team is continuing to investigate further, but we’re seeing an odd trend in terms of geographic location, specifically tied to content delivery on Tidal’s part serving areas in Australia and Germany.
I’d be curious to see if using a basic, consumer-grade VPN to temporarily test out changing location to outside of these areas would resolve the sync process. If anyone here suffering from this issue already has a VPN installed, let me know if you’re able to test the above.
Note that installing a consumer VPN is not a required step to use Tidal with Roon, this is only for testing purposes tied specifically to this issue.
@Snook I regret to share that running Roon in a docker setup isn’t within the scope of support, Tinkering may provide you the solutions you seek.
Thank you for your continued patience!
Hi,
I’m having the same Tidal issue with “Syncing library now” which never ends or actually sync and I’m living in Sweden.
I’ve had it since the last Roon update. If I add an album in Tidal it doesn’t show up in Roon, but I can add a Tidal album in Roon. However I can’t remove a Tidal album in Roon.
Suddenly I can’t delete an album from my library that I just added 5 minutes earlier. I am in Germany.
This was on iOS and on macOS. I use EA, server is ROCK.
Like for others, the symptom was that when attempting to delete I got a list of tracks with red text saying that it couldn’t find the files. But only the first time. When I retried several times, nothing at all happened.
Edit: interesting. I had originally added two versions of the same album, one from Qobuz (the 22 track hires reissue) and one from Tidal (the 14 track CD version). Then I tried to delete the Tidal one. The error happened and I wrote the above post.
Now I tried to delete the Qobuz one instead, and this worked. But I still can’t delete the Tidal one.
Aha, so several people are having this problem.
I have a different support thread open because I didn’t find this one before.
Just want to let the support team know I have the same problem and am based in Belgium (not using a VPN).
Thanks Benjamin for continuing to look at this issue. You might be onto something with the geographic location. I installed a VPN to see what would happen with the syncing problem and , hey presto, all good at my end ( at the moment !! ). I have now uninstalled the VPN and am still able to sync Tidal manually through Roon. I’ll keep my fingers crossed, but for now all is working as it should.
Interesting, thank you for the follow up @Mark_Apperly - I’ll forward this to our development team.
There is still a possibility the issue is tied to additional locations, thank you for sharing your report. If anyone else has success (even temporarily) when using a VPN, certainly let me know. I’ll share updates as soon as I have them.
@benjamin, I have just realized some things:
- I just tried a few minutes ago and could not even play this undeleteable Tidal album from my previous post. I can play other Tidal albums.
- I still could not delete it, either.
- I don’t know if this was the case already yesterday, because I didn’t try to play it.
But: Then I rebooted my ROCK and macOS remote, and then the album was already gone. So, I suppose this does look like a sync issue.
“Like for others, the symptom was that when attempting to delete I got a list of tracks with red text saying that it couldn’t find the files. But only the first time. When I retried several times, nothing at all happened.”
The scenario you describe is exactly the same issue I have! The album i still there after deletion, but the files can’t be located.
If I restart Roon the album is finally deleted.
Hi,
Suddenly I can sync both manually and automatically! Very strange, since I haven’t done anything on my side.
What’s happening?
· Something else
How can we help?
· I'm having trouble adding music to my library
Describe the issue
I have 5K+ albums on Tidal and 100s of playlists. They no longer update correctly at Roon.
I have now connected the server directly to the Segacom modem. I have reinstalled Roon and tried several backups.
When a backup is applied, it looks almost okay. After approximately some hours, all music from Tidal is automatically removed, and the system seems to try to reimport everything with very little success. Depending on which backup I applied, it gets stuck between 500 to 700 albums.
I tried to clear all deleted files from library maintenance. But then I lost all my tags. So I'm stuck and do not know what to try next.
Describe your network setup
Cabled directly to Segacom modem.
Hey Poul, have a look at this, you are having a similar problem to me and others.
Joining this one as my original thread has been auto-closed (been to busy to keep responding). Not sure if it’s 100% the same issue, but the Tidal status popup always says ‘syncing library now’, I don’t recall ever seing the last sync timestamp.
Long story short, my Roon library hasn’t been in sync with my Tidal Favorites for >1 year now. For example, the latest in my Tidal favs are the following:
Meanwhile, the latest in Roon’s ‘My Albums’:
Interestingly, if I go to Roon’s Tidal browser, the latest additions are there:
And so on… why do I see those albums in this view (which can’t be sorted, filtered or searched), but not in my Roon library?
In the original thread, I got many suggestions around my network (kudos to @benjamin), but none of them worked. It’s important to note that I have no connectivity issues whatsoever - HD tracks stream seamlessly, same for video etc.
Since that thread closed, I switched to a different ISP (1Gb/s connection) set up a new Roon server PC (MeLe Quieter Overclock N95 32GB RAM, Win11) with wired connection to the router. There has been no improvement.
@Roon Support
The new Roon release update brings no solution to the (now big) challenge of synchronization between Roon and Tidal. Looking at my own situation (see my postings above) and reading the contribution from other Roon fellows with somewhat the same challenge it is possible to come to the conclusion that the problem is with Tidal and how they execute the geographical and at the end the rights to (use, play) an individual album.
At it looks like the the challenge of the never ending synchonization it centered around some countries: Germany for sure, the US it seems is not affected. Some new albums (I use Germany now as an example) are sychronized from Tidal (favorites) into Roon - e.g. Marillion An hour before its dark (Live), while the majority of new albums (favourized > June 11th 2024) are not synchonized (e.g. Avril Lavigne Greatest hits).
Reading the posts above I have added in Roon via the Tidal service Frank Sinatra - Integral 1953-1956, that worked. As the second step I wanted to delete the Integral album - The pop up message in Roon/Tidal told me I do not have the rights for the album to be deleted and the recently added album in Roon via the internal Tidal service can not be deleted anymore (?)
The libray synchronization is now since 18 days always in status ‘sync in progress’, many albums selected in Tidal are not in Roon, if added manually in Roon via the Tidal service the albums can not be deleted anymore and…
…scarse to none information from the Roon support team on how to get this fixed resp. to get the Roon service with Tidal back to normal in this area:
- Possible a survey could help on which countries or regions are affected.
- Do all the neverending ‘sync in progress’ experiences do have the same symptoms?
- Possible interaction with Tidal on how to fix this problem, what has been the feedback?
At the moment the situation is very unsatisfactory. The connection between Roon and Tidal worked for years seamlessly as far a album sychronization is concerned and suddenly in week of June 11th the synchronzation is broken. In my humble opinion if this situation remains Tidal is not usable fully anymore in Roon, and that would be very sad and that, in my view, can not be the aspriration of Roon being a worldclass company.
I have the same issue going on a couple of weeks including after updating Roon today: Roon no longer syncs with Tidal. Replacing Roon cache and rebooting Roon did not change anything. Roon will add albums added already in Tidal but will not sync as before. (Checking Settings/Services/Tidal shows continual Syncing library now.)
Hi Roon Team, I have had no feedback from my logs that I sent in a week ago for this issue.
Are there updates? what is being done to resolve for us paying customers?
I have not been able to even use the product for almost a month now, as most of my music I am listening to is in Tidal.
I am in the Australian Region.
Come on Roon, I hope a free month comes from this at least. 26 a month Australian + a credit card fee (more than twice tidal itself) because of overseas billing is steep for the lack of response.
I weirdly fixed my issue.
This is how I did it.
I reinstalled Roon Labs from a fresh download.
Found a backup from mid of June (that had failed before)
Found an old folder with approximately 5k albums converted in a lossy format, and added these albums to Roon. They have never been imported to Roon before (since I had them all favourised in Tidal)
Now Tidal works
“Sync library now” is still functioning for me since my last post and it continues to work after I upgraded to build 1432.
Note! I have done nothing to fix this myself. It just started to work as it should again. Not very assuring since we haven’t yet got any explaination why it even occured…
