I’m using a Nexus 9 tablet to run Room Remote. core is running on a headless Mac Mini. I am constantly getting type dropouts. Missing letters. Restarting Room Remote helps, but if I close the tablet, when I reopen and it connects to Core, random letters disappear.
I have the same issue and pretty sure it’s related to this
and this!
This cannot be a low (video) memory issue only.
I can reproduce this on both my Nexus 7 and Pixel C, running only a few apps, if:
- I start the Roon app and wait till the Roon logo just disappeared
- Switch to the Chrome browser that was already running in the background
- Then switch back to Roon
Quite often there are more characters missing than actually displayed.
@Carl_Zapp, maybe you can try to reproduce this on your Nexus 9. If you can reproduce it then also the Roon team should be able to, as I seem to remember that they use the Nexus 9 as a development device.
Hi @Carl_Zapp — Thank you for the feedback here, it is very appreciated!
As cited in the post shared by Matt (@Hectorson) this behavior you are reporting is indeed a symptom of Roon running out of graphics memory. At this time I am unable to provide a firm date when this will be resolved but I can assure you that this is on our radar and our developers are working on improving in this area.
In the meantime, I would recommend trying to turn down your graphics memory to a minimum and seeing if that helps.
Let me know how it goes!

I tried, but couldn’t reproduce the problem
Hi Eric
The memory was at 64mb, and I changed it to minimum. So far so good.
In spite of this issue, I have to say that I am absolutely in love with Roon!
