My Roon Core (running on Nuc 8) was off when went to listen just a while ago. Powered on and had to wait about 5 minutes for everything to show up, way longer than normal.
I figured out what is wrong. The new update points to an application file in a new location. Open the folder named 200001324 which is in the following location: AppData\Local\Roon\Application\200001324. There should be a roon.exe file in that location. Create your shortcut to that new file location.
Found it! In case it helps anyone else, I was unable to navigate to the folder so right clicked on my shortcut in Windows 11 which took me close to the folder 200001324 and new file roon.exe which was created 9/29/23.
This opened the new build. I created a shortcut on my desktop. However, normally I pin my icon to the taskbar when Roon is open and use this to open Roon as needed, but that didn’t work. Instead I dragged the shortcut to the task bar and use this instead of the pinned icon to open Roon.
With Roon being careless with such (upgrade) bug (critical to not break upgrading), then what else did they break leaving regression bug in the new release…
I don’t mind the workaround to address the issue found from upgrading, but will this workaround needs to be manually cleaned up after proper next release? If it’s just a extra shortcut left behind then maybe not.
