Roon recommendation for collaborators and performing the music of not updating [Ticket In]

Is this a bad joke?

I am a Roon user since 8 years now and my library was ever a medium size. And “featured collab” and “featured cover performer” worked well since the feature was introduced. But since early this year I get the same thing nearly every day. And if you read the post above I am not the only one.

If Roon decided to switch to static content here, I agree, there’s a lot of room to improve!

Hi @AE67,

Just to clarify, there was no joking intended in my reply. As mentioned earlier — and echoed a few times in this thread — we agree there’s room for improvement here.

That said, I’d like to keep this thread focused on troubleshooting the technical issue at hand. If you’d like to share broader opinions or feedback about how Roon works, we’d encourage you to post those in the Feedback category, where they’ll be more visible to the right teams.

Thanks for understanding. We’ll follow up when we have more information to share.

As long as you only see “room for improvement” and did not acknowledge that this - the topic of this thread - is a bug, nothing will change.
And you had to understand that your posts do not help to raise my confidence in Roon and yes I am very angry when after 6 months there is still no official signal to at least admit this bug.

Hi @AE67,

The team is tracking these reports closely and has a ticket with development.

The content generated in these widgets relies on older architecture that the rest of the discovery/recommendation services within Roon. There may be conditions within any individual database that trigger this condition within these widgets, but at this time, the team is investigating this as a bug.

We will announce whether the fix will require a Roon update or can be resolved with backend changes without user intervention. Thank you for your patience.

Hi @India_Kirby,

I have merged your posts here in main tracking thread for this issue. Please stand by.

Any news on this issue?
Still every day the same content in this two areas.

Any updates? It’s been a month and half since this thread was started with no progress to show for it. I do not know how difficult this bug is to fix. but if there is no plan to address subset of users that are affected by it - just come clean. I’d even ignore this bug for a little longer - but this issue is probably another artifact of the bug that’s causing roon to repeat artists and tracks in daily mixes - which is making roon almost a glorified Wikipedia for repetitive music for me - I can reread everything about the same album and artist again. This also makes me circumspect of roon’s ability to fix bugs (and keep paying for its service) in the future which clearly affects the most critical function of roon - help discover music!

This is not isolated incident either - there are other bugs in the forum like tidal sync issue, database size issue that never seem to get resoved!

Hello @patsox75,

Thank you for the update, and apologies for the inconvenience.

This issue appears to affect only a limited number of users under specific circumstances. Our R&D team is actively investigating and working toward a resolution.

Regrettably, we don’t have an exact timeframe for a fix to share just yet, but we’ll keep you updated as soon as new information becomes available.

If it is by any help, I have the same issue (my network set up can be viewed in my profile in any support thread)

Hello @Riccardo_Sicheri,

Thank you for the update — I’ll add your case to the tracking thread.

@patsox75, based on the diagnostic data, we can see that there are three different profiles in your Roon setup. Could you kindly clarify under which profile you’re experiencing the issue?

@vadmin I use profile B****, I created/played around with 4 other profiles to see if it was profile related. Unfortunately it happens with other profiles too. A*** profile has been stuck at John Lennon for cover and John Lennon/Phil Spector for collaborators since day 1. R*** profile has been stuck at Leonard Cohen/Dana Glover collaborator (even though I played mostly hiphop music my son listens to using that profile) and doesn’t show any covers recommendation . K**** profile has been stuck at Taylor Swift & Taylor Swift/David Cook. Guest has been stuck at PJ Harvey/Mick Harvey for collaborators and no covers recommendation.

Hopefully it gets fixed before my renewal date, since I will probably not be allowed to log in to this forum without active subscription, and will never know if it got fixed after that.

Hi @patsox75,

Thanks for the additional details on which profiles are affected in what ways.

You should still be able to access your Community account even without an active Roon license. We’ve seen other users continue to participate on the forum after their subscription has lapsed, so you won’t be locked out of updates or discussion.

You will, plenty of people do. (Apart from that, reading the forum is possible without an account / logging in)

Good to know I can be on this forum without subscription.

I have a theory on why daily mixes are more repetitive for me…. It looks like Roon changed is algorithm to reduce selection to handful of albums and artist to choose from for daily mix for all mixes across multiple days. Even though individual selection may be random, probability of re-picking one of the previously picked track is pretty high then, and re-picking same album or artist almost certain. For example, I have Adele in almost all mixes past few days (not sure why it decided I’m Adele super fan without my input), have something from Bonnie Raitt’s luck of the draw almost every day feels like, even have two versions of Somgbird by Eva Cassidy on same mix today. Tin Pan Alley probably shows up every other day if not Little Wing….

Mixes definitely used to work a lot better in the past.

Hi @patsox75,

To my knowledge, there haven’t been any recent changes to the part of the code that handles track selection. That said, the investigation into this issue is still ongoing. We’ll be sure to keep you informed of any updates as they become available.

@daniel it has nothing to do with recent changes.
The daily mixes are broken since many months, at least more than half a year. Same like the collaborators and the performing the music of section.
You should read the several thread in this forum, like this one

I loose hope in the ability of Roon to get the many issue introduced in the last months fixed. All these thread with problems are getting closed one by one, but mostly with no solution for the problem.
The linked daily mix thread is a good example. not closed but not a single reaction from support or Roon stuff since 6 month, although support was tagged many times. Did you even read the stuff in this forum?
Very poor treatment of clients for such an expensive product!
If I would not be on lifetime I would have canceled my subscription by now.

Almost stopped using Roon for last two weeks used only minimally in CarPlay - tried to use it today at home… same repetitions! we get about 100 tracks in 6 daily mixes per day. I counted 25 of them were music from Melody Gardot, Patricia Barber, Diana Krall, Eva Cassidy and Youn Sun Nah in those mixes today. At the risk of trivializing it, it can’t be that difficult so put an if statement…. “If artist/album exists in mixes then skip adding end if” I definitely don’t listen only to female vocals! Yet 5 of the 6 mixes are that. I have 3 songs from same album “Same Girl” today! screenshots attached.i have had something from Lorde’s Heroine almost every day for last few months.

I have a feeling Roon has no intention to fix these bugs unless it gets fixed as side effect. And I am still getting Olof D-whatever as my chosen cover artist! And losing my confidence to pay for next subscription.
