change synology server. Still I see old one DS220+ but right now I have DS224+. I delete all files from NAS and reinstal Roon Server. How change name of server? Where Roon see name of server in folder?
Hi @Bruno_Winyle,
Thanks for reaching out to us about this issue. @DDPS’s guide should help you with connecting your new Synology server to your Roon server. If you have any questions please let us know.
Are you able to access the Synology outside of Roon? Can you double check sharing permissions on the machine as well as the subfolder holding your library?
Hi,
big problem. I try smb://… enter login and pass. Nothing. Any folder. I see some bugs after change to 7.2.2 from my previous NAS DS220+. It’s possible to fix it by SSH ?
Did you install the package? Then please use local paths instead. Connecting to network shares does no longer work with DSM 7 and newer. Why even try and use network share for local folder on the same NAS (at least that is now what you seem to try)?
So then you should have been asked about where your music is (chose a folder) does this folder work for you? You should also have seen instructions about the rights you have to set on other folders on your NAS if you need Roon Server on your NAS have access to them. Please make sure you actually run the latest version of the package, compare to: Synology DSM7 – RoonOnNAS (20220216).
I have been granted rights and other settings according to the instructions for Roon Server.
I have the latest Roon Server for DSM 7.0 NAS. Roon has been working for me for over 2 years. Everything worked fine. Now no directory is displayed in the Roon application. Previously, this directory was immediately visible in the Storage tab. I suspect this is an issue resulting from the update to 7.2.2. Which happened during the first launch of the new DS224+ NAS server.
Yours is the second case now (that I’m aware of) where a Synology user reports a “failure to access” issue with a migrated (from old NAS to new NAS) storage pool (Error Loading Folder: Unauthorized on Synology DS1520+ in Roon Setup (ref#VUWXC1)). Maybe something gets messed up during this migration, Synology support is probably the better option to get help on this or at least a worthwhile additional source for troubleshooting.
today morning I send msg to Synology Technical. When I get answer I write some information. Maybe They help me. It must be a problem with system after migration.
Your screenshot of the empty “Choose music storage folder” tells me that there is no folder with suitable access rights for the user RoonServer on this NAS.
So if done right, then something else is amiss on the NAS. But still and out of curiosity, what instructions did you follow? I hope Synology themselves can shed some light on this matter.
When Instalation was end (on DSM) I saw a screen with advise, which folder should add etc. It’s easy. I told you that I use Roon since 2 years and I know what this system works. It must be a bug in migration process. So thank You for spending your time in my case. We will be in touch after Synology answer me. Regards.
I received information from Synology that IT needs more data about the problem, primarily server log records and screenshots of error messages. I sent it to them this morning and I’m waiting for the matter to be resolved.
Still nothing, support of Synology its a joke. Lady told me about change dns, turn off firewall and another crap. Still problem didn’t fix it. I was wrote another time. Still waiting for answer. We been in touch
Under the “Local users” area (which this screen defaults to), the user via which you are connecting Roon to your music collection must have at least Read Only permissions(this is the last user listed in my screenshot). It is critical that this use have at least read only access to the whole music share. Would you mind sharing a screenshot of your configuration?
Also, under the “System internal user” area (which you have to select via the drop-down), the user “RoonServer” must have Read Only permissions as well:
