It’s weird because different Fritzbox models seem to have different (or differently worded) settings and different effects. I have a 6690 Cable and the options look like this:
The Layer 2 acceleration was off by default, I turned it on a long time ago to check if it is causing issues - it doesn’t. And with hardware acceleration off, performance is killed for wifi and internet uplink.
I wrote about this here:
I agree that it’s a good idea that the OP turns this off for testing. However …
FWIW, the feature is named differently on my Fritzbox with current firmware 7.29. Below are the default settings, using Vodafone, and they are not causing any remote connectivity issues for me.

According to what I read, hardware acceleration is always on after a reboot (at least on Vodafone), but I haven’t tested it. The performance is said to suffer considerably without it.
These settings are quite hid…

Roon support is working through the queues, they have too much work for a few people but will get to you. In the meantime, let’s check a few things, if only to rule out that they are the cause. The problems happening after the Fritzbox update may be a coincidence or it may be significant.
You have a quite similar system like I (cirrus7 Comet Lake i5, Fritzbox 6690 with 7.50).
@Axel_Lesch asked a very good question that you didn’t answer:
I would add, do you have Fritzbox mesh devices?
I ha…
