Someone is going to have some fun this weekend:

You maybe heard about the S.M.S.L SU-1 DAC, as everybody is talking about it, so I bought one for just 70eur. Everyone was right; it’s phenomenal, and just for the record, it works perfectly with the Roon system, particularly with RoPieee (Roon Bridge). This time, I connected it to Raspberry Pi Compute Module 4. Here is the final photo:

I was looking at the LS50 Wireless II but then thought, hm I probably need their stands too … and then I probably need a sub … and by the time I added it all up I was v. close to the (new) price of the LS60 …

By the way, there are no photos on the internet, as the Volumio Lineo5 linear power supply is very new, but I opened it and took a picture; if someone would like to buy it, she at least will know what she is buying. This is how the internals look like (elementary power supply; in fact, the most weight comes from the case, I think):

Operation KEF LS60 Wireless completed:

The KEFs are on IsoAcoustics Gaia now, that work wonders with my suspended flooring. Very happy with the sound: ample, deep and nicely dry bass, rich and full mids, sparkling yet silky smooth highs. Compared to my previous LS50 WII / KC62 setup, there’s just more of everything: it all sounds richer and larger, especially so in the lower mids. The end result is just more well eh… musical and effortless, whatever I throw at them. I’ve dabbled with the KC62 for a bit, but found no real need for a sub anymore.

Since they’re on the same (W2) streaming platform as my previous setup, making all my Roon and Spotify automations and integrations work again was a simple find and replace of the speakers’ hostname in my scripts. (My current favourite is a little Flic 2 button that starts shuffling a 9000 track baroque playlist from Spotify at a gentle volume in the mornings, conveniently located next to the coffee machine :-)). All of that – and of course all of @DrCWO’s rooExtend gizmos are up & running as well.

Mission accomplished, I’d say – for the year (or a few more, as I had to promise my loving wife. ;-)).

They can really preasurize the room (LS60) it’s pure magic and bands like Dire Straits sounds great and fun. It’s so good it’s scary.

But… I’m a sucker for the Dynaudio sound. So…

Here is mine :stuck_out_tongue:

Currently using it with my Focal Utopia 2022 with Danacable Lazuli Rhapsody cable and an Abyss Diana TC.

The Sonore Signature Rendu SE Deluxe is such a wonderful Roon endpoint- in use with the opticalModule Deluxe. All connected to a Puritan PS106DC.

Thanks for the heads up. I’ve been asleep at the wheel the last few years not paying much attention to anything new or on the horizon. After reading your post I did a bit of reading and researching and just orderd one. Should make for a fun weekend as it will get here Friday!

EDIT: Oh, forgot to ask…so if you are using RoPieee (Pi 4 B) like I am, the USB supplies both the signal and the power?

I think I am coming around to their looks, as these look great. I have some Kef reference 1, so I do have a soft spot for the brand.

I have recently got my grubby mits on a NAD M66 with has Dirac, and I am loving playing around with it. Have you done any EQ?

Thanks for info, it was never clear if the KC62 would still be needed

Very jealous but Xmas is coming

I did a bit of gentle EQ via the KEF app with the LS50WII/KC62 combo (-1,5dB for Wall Mode and for Treble), but did not find a need so far with the LS60. I have Bass Extension set to extra to cover the full range, which sounds fine.

I still see wires to the speakers…:smiling_imp: wireless speakers are a lie…there is always still a wire sooner or later

Two power cords and one HDMI for TV over eARC. The first two seem pretty unavoidable as of now; the latter does not count for music. :stuck_out_tongue:

I run them wireless for network and inter speaker communication at the moment, which has been flawless so far.

I just love having a go at wireless speakers as they never are…totally. Wireless audio transmission but that’s about the best you can hope for

How do you listen to Roon?

I use:
Mac mini
ifi USB line purifier
ifi Zen One Signature
ifi 4.4 mm balanced cable
Yamaha RXA3080 receiver
Rbh MC-6CT tower speakers
Rbh MS 8.1 sub

Speaker wire and Subwoofer cable from SVS

Just curious of setups, no judgement.

I’ll play devil’s advocate:

I don’t listen to Roon. I listen to music. Roon is the transport.

Hi @Derrick_Robinson, I’ve merged your topic into this existing topic one.
Lot’s of discussion on setups here, if you look just below the first post in this topic there is a link to the previous one [2023 topic] which in turn links to previous years. Happy scrolling.

and a very lovely cabinet.

Damn you, you have just reignited my interest in these, I’d managed to remove them from my mind, now I’m rereading the reviews and have found I can get them interest free over 3 years, nearly pushed the button! Please keep us informed with your impressions. All the best
