Describe the issue

I can't connect to Qobuz or Tidal

Describe your network setup

Yes, I use Xfinity. My Roon Nucleus is connected directly to it.

Hi @John_Kelly1,

If you’re experiencing a login loop or slow loading while attempting to connecting to streaming services via Settings → Services, try the following.

First, disable any content blockers (adblockers) in your default browser and clear the cookies/cache.

Verify that you can log in via the web players or account pages for Qobuz and Tidal outside of Roon with the exact same credentials.

If the login pages for these services outside of Roon are functioning, then restart the RoonServer instance in the Nucleus via the web administration interface and try again.

If your ISP allows you to assign a custom DNS server in the settings/app, then we usually recommend assigning Cloudflare (1.1.1.1). This will help ensure the Nucleus can reliably reach Qobuz and Tidal’s servers.

Thanks for the note back!
Yes, I can connect separately apart from Roon. I disabled all adblockers and cleared my cache. As asked, I restarted the RoonServer. I was still not able to connect to Qobuz nor Tidal. I am not able to assign a custom DNS as I use a router from Comcast. BTW, I ought to mention I have had major connectivity issues with the RoonServer. So, reading the forums I went on the Comcast page and set a Reserved IP for my Nucleus. (10.0.0.100) It seems my problems began somewhere around then.
Your help is so appreciated. I have Pulse Speakers, btw

Hello everyone,
I am having an issue with Qobuz and with Tidal. As of a few days ago, I can’t connect with either. I connected with Support and have, I think at this point, done all that I “think” I can do, and all they suggested (pretty basic stuff.) It has been hours of work at this point I really hope someone has that one last idea. (I have the new Nucleus Core. I run a MacBook Air.)
-I can connect on them separately and on the web.
-I have reinstalled Roon and can connect.
-I have set a reserved IP for Roon on my Xfinity Router.
-I set my DNS server on my MAC for 1.1.1.1
-I have turned off/turned on my router and server countless times. (give me a dollar or euro for every time I have done this!)
-I have reset my password on Qobuz.
-When I try Qobuz, after all of this I get “network error”
-Trying Tidal just “hangs”
-I can’t connect to Live Radio anymore.
All I can do at this point, would be to use them on my iPad as Airplay on my Bluesound speakers or my Sonos… BUT, I am losing all the music I have put on Roon.
So, I would so, so appreciate any help.
Thanks so much,
John Kelly

@John_Kelly1, your Support ticket was automatically closed because you hadn’t replied. I’m merging this thread, and reopening the original for you.

Thanks Martin,
I will make sure I am better about replying. That has to be frustrating. Thanks for any help.

I am running a Mac Air Apple M2.
My router is a Xfinity model.

I have written about this before. I was having slow response with startup on Roon. (and Qobuz and Tidal).

I have followed all the suggestions. Restarted the server, reinstalled Roon (a few times now.) I set up Cloud Fire on my Mac and iPad.

I cannot change the DNS on the Xfinity Router. As I have made all of these changes, I have no knocked out Tidal/Qobuz completely.

I was asked can I log on via Web, yes. But, now, I can not log into Live Radio, which I love. It says there is a network error which is interesting.

So, I am wondering… Would it be indicative of some issues people have with ISP routers. Should I take a plunge and buy a new Router?

I can listen to my music library, but my streaming is lost. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,
John

Hi @John_Kelly1,
Thanks for reaching out to us about this issue. To start troubleshooting this can you please use the directions found here and send over a set of logs to our File Uploader?

Hey @John_Kelly1,

Thanks for the update - my apologies if this has been glazed over already, but do you experience the same issue no matter the Roon remote device you’re using?

On your Mac, can you confirm Roon is set as a proper exception in your Mac firewall settings? Here’s more info:

You can also temporarily disable your Mac firewall and see if you’re able to sync properly. :+1:

Thanks guys,
Done and submitted,
John

Thanks for getting back to me.
I did the protocol for the Mac firewall. To check things out, I opened it up with my Windows laptop, an Asus. I have the same problem with this. So, it has to start with the router. My guess is that either when I followed instructions to fix the problem, the fix didn’t work OR being an ISP router it doesn’t allow certain changes to be made. (I can’t set a DNS for Roon.) That said, I am not a networking genius. So, what would take someone else 10 minutes, might take me 30!
Thanks for the help,
John

I had uploaded my log file from my MAC. I tried running Roon last night on my ASUS Windows 11 to see if I could access Live Radio/Qobuz/Tidal. No luck. So, I thought maybe this log would be helpful. I just uploaded that as well.
Much appreciated for the assistance guys!
John

Hi @John_Kelly1 ,

Are you by any chance able to edit your DNS servers on the Mac Roon Server? Does this then allow a connection?

Hi Norris,
Yes, I can.
Searching on the forums, led me to try to connect to Cloudflare to solve my issues.
I have the DNS on my Mac set at 1.1.1.1 and 1.0.0.1
John
Thanks for the help

Norris,
If you haven’t read my earlier posts, if this helps- what is weird is I had purchased the Nucleus+ in June. It had been really slow loading, sometimes not. (A problem when my Mac/Windows were the server.) I thought the Nucleus+ would solve the issue. It hadn’t. So, tackling the DNS on the Mac and fiddling with the ISP Router (as suggested on the Forum) have sped up the loading speed but have knocked out Roon/Qobuz/Live Radio/ and Back up. I can’t do a Roon Search. Have restarted the Server and the Router again and again.
If you have read this, apologies. I am hoping this and the log narrows things down for you,
John

Morning!

I have been on over the last week talking about my inability to access QoBUZ/Tidal/Live Radio nor Back up. It has been hours, really, following everyone’s suggestions - changing DNS numbers, starting and restarting servers, firewalls, etc., etc.

Last night, I tried one last thing - I deauthorized my Nucleus+ and setup my Asus PC as my Core. Everything is working! So, what gives?

I would rather use the Nucleus and not tie up my PC and run it constantly. So does this suggest anything to anyone much savvier than me?

Thanks guys,
John

Hi @John_Kelly1,
I’ve merged this post with your previous one to keep all of the information together. Since Roon works properly on your Asus PC something about the Nucleus itself or its connection to your network.
To check for a hardware issue with the Nucleus connect it to a monitor via HDMI, connect it to your router and turn it on. If nothing shows up on the monitor then the Nucleus is damaged and you can follow this link to submit an RMA. If some text shows up please take a picture of what you see and share it with us. It will let us know if the Nucleus is connecting properly to your network.

Thanks Daniel Please let me know if the photos came through. I had some problems so I hope I got them to you. John

Thanks for that screenshot @John_Kelly1 , this indicates that the Nucleus is booting up as expected. I was looking over your earlier details and I noticed you mentioned having XFinity. Do you by any chance have Constant Guard enabled? This feature has caused some similar issues in the past:
