Doesn’t ‘feet down’ create a better stereo image?
Just makes for a better image
thanks! it probably should be obvious, but I don’t see how to import that curve into the application?
Oh, that post was a while ago now. I was wondering if you calibrated the setup or if its simply tuned by ear. It is a very nice listening room you have. Cheers.
Evidently, many people who take snaps of their system don’t have knees that bend.
Ah. By ear only. And some distance correction when I listen from the daybed in the corner.
You also have a great room which I expect is far better for listening than mine. Cheers!
Wonderful setup and room. Maybe another subwoofer for balance?
Yes, the setting is very important. I prefer the sound of mahogany guitars whether steel stringed or nylon. Enjoy your musical journey. John
„Feet for scale“. It’s a thing
I am curious, what tablet are you using as a display?
Thanks! I think I figured it out. I bought the full license, but the documentation is not that clear.
Galaxy Tab S SM-T700
Samsung Tab-S5e, Sorry, I was Wrong, it is the: Galaxy Tab S SM-T700 8,4 inch
It’s a little rough to show a whole home system, especially when I deliberately tried to hide the speaker systems in each room, but let’s give this a try.
Because of my work, I have a pretty advanced network in my home for computing, A/V and IoT - so I’ve whittled down my home networking diagram to try and isolate just the audio portion of it. So - that’s the network diagram I’m presenting here.
I have a 1G Managed Switch controlling most of the show here. The routers in the house are 4 year old Eero 5 Pros which I plan on replacing in the next few months. Every main room in the house have high end Bose or high end Polk ceiling speakers installed, with the exception of the media room which has a Cambridge Audio 7.1 speaker system.
I have tried a number of Roon installations (a write-up will be coming soon) and the only one that hasn’t given me trouble is ROCK running on a 32G Intel NUC. So, that’s what you see sitting on the Synology.
The ceiling speakers are powered by a VSSL A.6x matrixed amp. The two exceptions are:
- the guest room which has an inexpensive 40W amp running two DLK bookshelf speakers
- the media room has a Marantz SR5014 A/V amp powering the Cambridge Audio speakers
Both of these amps are fed from Chromecast Audio disks that have been equipped with ethernet rather than WiFi.
The remotes are a combination of things. I have 3 Lenovo M10 android tablets scattered throughout the house at convenient locations. (The Roon app is “pinned” to the tablet, so that effectively Roon is all they do.) In the office, I use the Roon app on my Windows desktop… and of course, our phones are used everywhere else.
I love the barber’s chair.
Thanks - it’s got a story to it. Dad was a barber, it’s his chair, but I had the whole thing refurbished. It went on quite the little worldwide trip to get that done - but it was finished 4 years ago. (My sister got the barber pole.)
It is an excellent place to read, or use as a gaming chair
