Roon won't play certain tracks from Qobuz, gets stuck on progress bar (ref#K9XYO0) [Resolved - Qobuz backend issue fixed]

· Since the most recent Roon update, I'm encountering situations where random tracks won't stream from Qobuz through Roon. So far this has happened with 3 tracks but the problem persists through multiple Roon sessions (meaning my Roon server is turned off and then when I boot up again the next time, the playback problem for these tracks persists). This manifests with the Roon server UI (or Roon remote) showing an endless loop on the individual track playback without the track actually starting. There are no error messages displayed. The track isn't automatically skipped as would usually happen with some type of error situation. The playback stops and nothing else happens until I manually advance to the next track in the queue. These tracks all play through the Qobuz app without issue. Any idea what might be happening?

Hi @Robert_Lowe

Just a fellow music lover here.

As it’s the weekend Roon support won’t pick this up until next week.

I’d recommend as a starting point to logout of Qobuz, restart Roon server and log back into Qobuz. Your symptoms sound similar to issues I had last year and this helped.

Hi @Mr.Flibble Thanks, but this didn’t address the issue, which continues.

Hello @Robert_Lowe

Thank you for reaching us.

I think the next step here is to enable some diagnostics on your account so our technical staff can get some more insight into what’s going on here.

However, before I enable this feature, I’d like to ask for your help in ensuring we gather the right information.

First, can you please reproduce the issue once more and note the time at which the error occurs. Then respond here with that time, and I’ll make sure we review the diagnostics related to that timestamp.

Hi @vadim

The issue recurred at 03:20 PDT today (3/17). The track I was trying to play failed to stream at all, twice, with no error or other message shown. The following track then started, but stopped about 35 seconds in and I saw, for the first time in this sequence of events, a warning that Qobuz media was loading slowly, a standard Roon message that harkens back to problems I was having several months ago with Qobuz streams breaking. I was able to restart this interrupted track which then played normally. But at 03:31 I tried for a third time to stream the track that wouldn’t play 11 minutes earlier, which again failed to start and no error message was displayed.

However, the six tracks that would not stream from Qobuz in Roon between 3/12 and 3/15 (which led me to file this report initially) were all playable as usual today. The track that wouldn’t stream at 03:20 today wasn’t one of those tracks, but an additional one. So this seems to be more of an intermittent than recurring problem (although in at least once case the problem persisted with one track for more than one day).

While Roon logging is pretty opaque to me, there does seem to be some indication in the Roon server logs that there are problems communicating with the Qobuz CDN; I will wait for further info from your team if available. Thanks.

· **Issue:**
Qobuz streaming intermittently fails. When pressing play on a Qobuz track, playback never starts. The UI shows an endless loading state with no error message. Local library playback works perfectly.

The Roon Server log shows the FTMSI module entering a rapid infinite retry loop trying to fetch block 0 from the Qobuz CDN (Akamai). The CDN responds HTTP 200 but delivers 0 bytes of audio data, causing Roon to immediately retry — hundreds of times per second:

```
03/18 17:35:41 Debug: FTMSI-B-OE qo/24B40254 rid:87 request ended -- first block: 0 blocks read: 0 download speed: -256kbps response time: 42ms
03/18 17:35:41 Debug: FTMSI-B-OE qo/24B40254 interrupted req 87; missing block 0
03/18 17:35:41 Debug: FTMSI-B-OE qo/24B40254 created new req 88 for block 0 p 0; active requests 1
03/18 17:35:41 Info: FTMSI-B-OE qo/24B40254 rid:88 response took 64ms
03/18 17:35:41 Debug: FTMSI-B-OE qo/24B40254 rid:88 request ended -- first block: 0 blocks read: 0 download speed: -256kbps response time: 64ms
03/18 17:35:41 Debug: FTMSI-B-OE qo/24B40254 interrupted req 88; missing block 0
```

This loop continues indefinitely until I manually stop server.

**What I've tried:**
- Logging out and back into Qobuz within Roon
- Restarting Roon Server (systemctl stop/start)
- Clearing Roon cache (rm -rf RoonServer/Cache) and restarting
- Changing DNS: tested Quad9, Cloudflare, Google
- Verified Qobuz app streams perfectly from the same network/IP
- Verified local library playback in Roon works fine

**Behavior pattern:**
- Sometimes Roon recovers on its own after many retries and requests a new streaming URL
- This started approximately 5 days ago. No changes were made to my network or Roon setup.

**For remote diagnostics:** Issue reproduced today March 18 at 17:35 Chile time (20:35 UTC).

· Queued streaming radio track doesn't play and freezes, track bar highlight moves back and forth forever, track never plays. Why is this happening at all? And secondly, even if it cant play a queued track on streaming radio station it should skip and continue after a maximum failure duration (~5 sec) rather than stop the stream.

Hi everyone. Over the last few days Roon won’t play specific tracks. For example, “Almost Like the Blues” (from Leonard Cohen’s “Popular Problems”) won’t play, but the other album tracks play as expected. It is happening with a lot of tracks, including some chosen by Roon Radio. The same tracks play fine in the Qobuz App. Is there something going on regarding the Qobuz-Roon integration or am I the only one facing this issue?

PS. My server is a NUC that has been trouble-free for almost 4 years and the issue is not endpoint specific

Running a Titan here with Qobuz. Chris Stapelton’s “Tennessee Whiskey” won’y play the Qobuz 24/96 version; only the 16/44. Will play the entire rest of the album. Superbly annoying that I’m trying to show off my system to some family and I can’t fulfill the #1 song request.

I stream 98% of the time using Qobuz through Roon. The past month or so music just stops playing! When I look into my Roon app on my IPad to see what’s up, I can see where the song time is shown at the bottom of the app. It looks like a cursor going back and forth with nothing playing. I’ve done numerous speed tests. I’m just shy of a gig of bandwidth.
