Tidal tracks skipping: "The track is not currently available from TIDAL" [Resolved]

Hey DanMtsn,

that’s very strange - I would suggest you open a separate support thread for your issue, as it affects playing your local files from your HDD. That is a serious issue - I agree - but I think this should be investigated separately.

thank you. I do have the problem playing Tidal as well. I didn’t manage to take a print screen when it gave the error playing a local file so I don’t have proof for a support thread… I’ll keep watching though.

Several people seem to be having the same issue:

Today I also have that problem - as there are different configurations involved maybe it is a general issue?

For me a reboot of everything (ROCK, Ethernet switch, Internet Router, iMac) did not solve the issue, I was able to play the songs I could not play before. But other songs are now not playable.

Maybe @support is able to investigate. Thanks a lot!

More issues that seem to be very similar:

It seems this issue does not happen for Qobuz subscriptions - I was not able to find support requests regarding Qobuz.

So it seems to be Roon/TIDAL specific. Could it be country specific? I am in Germany.

It’s happening to me too, I am in Australia.

I am using Roon on a Intel i5 Nuc with my Macbook Pro, my iPad mini 4 and my iPhone 11 Pro. Since Roon 1.8 two annoying problems occoured.

1.) When I try to play music from several Tidal albums that I added to my libary Roon says that “This track is not currently available from Tidal” and sometimes “Too many failures. Stopping playback”. Not uncommon the supposedly unavailable songs change from one attempt to another. In the Tidal-App all songs are available without problems.

2.) I tried to organize my albums and playlists in tags. Within on tag, for example “Hard Rock” I have 50 albums and 3 playlists. Everytime when I try to go back from a chosen album (as an example ZZ-Top) within my tag list I always backdrop to the beginnig of the list to albums with the letter A. I have to look hard for the album again by scrolling back to where I have been before. This also happend to me when clicking on an album within genres.

I already did log out from Tidal and started the Nuc again but the two problems still occure.

Especially the problem with Tidal makes Roon in the version 1.8 not useable!

Is there any solution for this two bugs?

Hi, I had the same issue with Tidal today. Roon reported that song is not available but when I run native App from Tidal on my iPad the song was there. Is this thread for reporting such bugs or shall we write it directly to Roon support. I’m novice subscriber for Roon and don’t have so much experience.

I have the same problem today. Too many failures, but the tracks play correctly on Tidal app. Maybe some problem with the Tidal API.

The “skipping-problem” occours with all my devices on serveral Roon-endpoints (Moon 280D DAC, Auralic Mini, iPhone and AQ Dragonfly DAC).

I already regret that I have bought a livetime membeship because I feel to be left alone with my problems (which apparently also occur with other users). I cannot use Roon an suitable way. By skipping plenty songs from Tidal within Roon this software is useless for me!

Is there no one from Roon-Service that can help us with our problem?

I had the same problem, today, several times with different tracks.
My core is a Nucleus V2

Hi.

I’m going to move your topic into the Support forum for better visibility.

Thanks.

So far, I´ve made the following attempts to get to grips with the “Tidal-skipping-problem”:

  • Restart of the ROCK on my Intel Nuc i5

  • Restart of the Roon server software

  • Log out and in again in Settings/Services/Tidal

  • Disable and Enable Tidal in Settings/Services

  • Restart my router

  • Set router DNA from auto to 8.8.8.8

  • Change the language of Roon App on Macbook Pro from German to English

Unfortunately all these steps didn´t help!

The problem only occours with Tidal songs of my libary no matter if FLAC or MQA. Without a reconizeable reason sometimes songs of an Tidal album can be played with no problems and a little later some songs of the album cannot be played. Router, Intel Nuc and Moon Dac are connectet to cables. Internet speedtest is more than 200 Mbps/21 Mbps (Down-/Upload). As i mentioned earlier Tidal-App is playing all songs problem-free.

I´m urgently looking for a solution to this problem!

Description Of Issue

Some tracks do not play, with this message: THIS TRACK IS NOT CURRENTLY AVAILABLE ON TIDAL

Also this message: TOO MANY FAILURES STOPPING PLAYBACK which seems to happen when I try and skip a track??

Have tried testing in another room with another device (SONOS Play 5) with same problems.
Another test I have tried seemed to play previously unplayable tracks if I let a whole album play through without skipping. For example, I could not play track 4 of You Are Free, Cat Power by clicking the track but it did play if I played the album from track 1.

Some Tidal tracks are unavailable in Roon’s Tidal but are available in Tidal app. For example track Hijamara on Kitaro’s album Kojiki (remasterd).

Hi Dylan, I’m new to Roon and have literally just set my account up and am having exactly the same issues as described here when trying to play Tidal music.

I had a similar issue - logged into Tidal via Roon, but Roon failing to sync with Tidal and display albums.
Meanwhile I had no issue at all with Audirvana or the Tidal app.
This was after many years of no issue with Roon-Tidal syncing or integration.
In my case I tried different Roon versions and three different computers, MacOs and Windows OS. Re-installed Roon, but nothing seemed to work.

This went on for a few days, then after another restart and logout/login of Tidal (something I’d done many times) it just started working again.
Something related to Roon’s external networking, but no idea why it occurred.

Thanks but frustrating when you’re doing a 14 day free trial before purchasing and it doesn’t work for a few of the days. I’m trying to set up my DAC abs test out if it’s worth spending the money to get Roon… not a great advertisement for the platform. It seems to be a fairly common issue that’s been had by a few. Surely a fix would be the way to keep customers happy?

I have the same issue…

Like I said above I was using Roon for years, over several revisions, and never experienced any issues like this.
In my case the problem appeared to be a networking issue of some sort (not tied to a computer, OS or Roon revision) you might try switching off all your home network equipment and restarting.
I didn’t do this.
My Roon install worked again after a subsequent restart and logging out/in to Tidal - this was all tried the day before or course, on different installs, with no luck.

Doesn’t seem to be a widespread issue, but if one uses their Tidal library cached by Roon - ie don’t go looking for new stuff - they might not realise the issue exits (Tidal albums already cached by Roon played for me - until I blew them away with fresh install while troubleshooting!).
