1.8 Feedback: Movements of composition no longer indented

This was intentional. It addresses some the squished-ness that resulted from indentation particularly on narrow form factors. Portrait device support was a huge theme for 1.8, and in some cases, it requires stepping past old decisions we made that were hostile to that form factor. Hey @Oliver_Stettner – we’re reasonably happy with Roon 1.8’s handling of classical performers (who don’t also compose) and classical composers (for whom there are no recorded performances), but we’re also aware of some issues related to people who straddle the line between composer and performer. For me, the responses from Roon in items 1 and 2 contain information on their design/functionality philosophy; in play before and beyond 1.8. I hope you understand I want to limit the list to specific changes Roon are working upon after the 1.8 release.

But as and when I have the time I’ll keep an eye on any further response from Roon about improvements that address specfic concerns from users in those topics.

Roon are addressing items 3 and 4; they have already been added to the list.

Unable to remove tags in 1.8 on Albums or Artists

Appreciate all the feedback we’ve heard on this, everyone. Most Roon users don’t use tags and we’d like to fix that, but it’s clear the people who do use tags really need a fully-featured tool with the ability to add + remove in bulk. We hear you. We’re going to restore the previous functionality here, along with the ability to display track tags on the album screen. Thanks all!

1.8 star ratings visible on albums [Done in Roon 1.8 Build 763]

Throughout 1.8, we have made an effort to put lists of albums in the right order so the best stuff is first–the idea is, we don’t need this extra element in the interface to do something that is already captured in the sort order. In any case, due to popular demand, we are planning to bring this back as an option.

5,000 song shuffle limit?

It wasn’t intended to work this way. You should be able to choose shuffle and get a random selection of music from your library, not just the beginning of the alphabet (or whatever your current sort mode is). Thanks for flagging this everyone – we appreciate the feedback and we’re working on a fix. It should be in the next release.

I don’t think that 5000 tracks shuffle issue was resolved. It’s still 5000. And now from any screen, even from tags and genres.

From what I’ve read the main issue has been resolved: the shuffle is now random and not just the first 5k tracks of the active sort.

If Roon responds with actionable feedback to the other concerns I’ll happily add it to the list.
